Blake, Carlini, Kriskova, Nelson all Juniors and Morey a senior...that is not a YOUNG team Not young, but not a ton of experience playing with one another. First year on the court for Blake and first year playing with these teammates for Kriskova. I thought the Badgers would take care of business easily with a lot of talent back, but they clearly struggled big time tonight. Losing their great senior class was more significant than I anticipated.

Those who watched:
Was Carlini's setting actually not that great, or did the hitters just have a hard time adjusting to the amped-up speed?
Also, how did Morey look? Probably my favorite Wisconsin player.

Yikes, yikes, yikes... Passing and blocking. Fix those and they will be fine.
Too many junk sets outside without elite hitters to put them away. Gillis and Bates are fine, but not against a well formed double block. Right side block started well but got pathetic as the match went on. Digs were too far off the net and defense didn't anticipate tips well at all.
WKU played their as*ses off, great defense and consistent offense. Setter took some nice attacks and badgers just looked unprepared for those. I thought the refs called the setting pretty loosely, especially late. Both Carlini and the WKU setter got away with some chucks, but at least it was consistent.
The Badgers will be better than they showed tonight. They need to be next weekend against UNC and UL.

Surprised somewhat, but not shocked. WKU is a very good team, really dangerous early in the season, and has zero fear of top teams. Not a match I would schedule first. No doubt Wisconsin will rebound and be a top team, but this was a scary match for a first match.

Maybe a "scary"match on the road, but they should have taken care of business at home.

So our block is there, but we're giving the WKU hitters hard cross and they're taking it. Do you notice anything unique about WKU's offense? Not particularly. It was their floor coverage that was spot on. Our hitters' shot selection was also not that inspired, and WKU's digging picked it all up and sent it right to the setter. We weren't covering our block, either,
