Congrats to the Gophers! Some great matches in the Big Ten this weekend.
Wish this one was televised too. Would love to see Gentil play. (Crazy digging stats... by both teams really...) Also would like to see Tortorello play - Got to see her as a freshman when I was still on the east coast - Been a fan of hers ever since. She had a great match too (7 kills, hit .412, 65 assists, 17 digs).

Wasn't Illinois close to the top ten at the end of last year? The Gophers and Lions both probably drop a bit in the poll Monday. I wonder if the Buckeyes will sneak into the top 10? Does anyone know the last time (if ever) the Big 10 has had 3 teams ranked in the top 10?

Lions hit .160 or so in all 3 games they lost.
That's the recipe.
30 kills for Martin and .269 21 for Tree (with a late flourish) and .147
25 for Pederson and, out of nowhere, 20 for Price. .268 and .179, respectively.
51 assists for Taatjes and 34 for KBow (who had 21 digs and hit .412). I'm guessing they went to the 5-1.

That was a lot of blocks and digs. And according to the broadcast, the ball was just flying around like a pinball. Any block that wasn't a stuff was dug up and either blocked again or dug up. I hate it that players keeping the ball in play when their teammates are blocked isn't at stat that officially kept. There must have been a ton of those as well in this match. The Gophers have been doing pretty well at that this year.

Something that's surprising to me is that the Gophers could have as many digs as they did and Rhino only got 8 digs for the match.

The Gophers and Lions both probably drop a bit in the poll Monday. For what it's worth. I ran the RKPI after all of yesterday's games and MN was still #2 but by a slimmer margin than before so the loss to tOSU didn't hurt too much there.

Actually Kbow dug a lot in game five. PArticularly in the middle when Bratford pulled the Gophers away. So I'm not sure if it was a direct attack or if Van and another player was setting the ball. I think KBow assists on Tree's run of kills in the 5th game. I supposed she could have been setting off of Van-Taatjes digs though. I just remember the Game Tracker saying "Kill Bratford, Trisha - assist Bowman, Kelly" at least a couple of times in the 5th game.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Illinois also only rose to #15, so I was wrong about that ... last year. How about 9/13/04 for most recent: Gophers #1 PSU #5 Illinois #9
