Muno will be setting by the time Pac play starts. She has been a hitter and passer her whole prep career and finally playing setter only. Give her a little time. She will pass Chandler soon enough. First match of the year, lots of question marks for a lot of teams. Not another setter controversy. I hope Sealy learned from past mistakes. You can't have two setters looking over their shoulder after every mistake to see if they are being subbed out. Sealy likes Chandler. She sets a very hitable ball, is smart, plays D, does a ton of little things, and brings a rhythm having played with several of these players in HS and club. Muno is not the better athlete or setter, however if teams in the PAC exploit Chandler's block, then you may see a 6-2, not a controversy. Muno will not run a 5-1, bc she won't be a blocking or setting upgrade. Both will be pressed to beat out Kylie Miller next year imo. Kylie is tall and athletic enough to block effectively in the PAC.

If UCLA goes to a 6-2, it forces two of their better players, Rachel Inouye and Karly Drolson, out of the lineup. It is tough to use DS's when you are using all you subs to run the 6-2.

Unless Muno stays in and hits. Then you can use one DS. But I agree, I think he sticks with the 5-1 since their team will only contend if they can be the best passing team possible which means getting Inouye and Drolson in.

There really isn't any setter controversy, IMO. Or at least there won't be one the day Miller sets foot on campus. At Stanford last year Consani set the team around .070 in the first and Moenoa around .280 for the remainder but Consani still got the start the following match. Moenoa set Felix a perfect 1.000 on 11 swings one match, ranked one of the best performances in Pac history, and Consani still got the start the following match. Lowe getting subbed out in clutch moments. Moenoa getting subbed in by accident with Consani on the court. Regardless what happens at setter the coaching controversy can always come back.

I did think that the lights and the court looked awful on TV.
Why can't UCLA just play ALL their games at Pauley for goodness sakes. USC plays all of their games at the Galen Center. Playing so often at the Wooden Center makes them come across as a second rate program, or one on the bottom of the rung at the school.

I guess Muno isn't working out at setter. At least we now know you are a complete idiot. Way to make assumptions off first matches.
