OMG people! Give it a rest! 2nd match of the season... and you all are ready to write them off! UCLA played very well last night and beat UVA who beat LMU on their home court. It was ugly but not the end of the world... RELAX! I think the concern by UCLA fans / critics is that the issues the Bruins have don't seem to have a solution readily available this year.

They need someone who can put the ball away consistently, not that Olga would have been the answer but why did she transfer and again where is Izzy?

If USC cam play every game at Galen Center, than UCLA should play every game in Pauley. Getting stuck in the Wooden Center all the time is disrespectful to the program.
Let Izzy Carmona play for goodness sakes. I can see last year when she was Karsta Lowe's backup, but I feel she is superior to anyone they have this year at that position. Sealy should at least see what she can do.

Reeves came into a team with Kidder and Love on the left and all she had to do was pass and hit in system red's when they blockers were worried about the outsides. Buechler is being asked to do WAY more. I'm more surprised Buechler isn't passing 6 rotations. That should be her forte. But she should be the 3rd to 4th option on a team, and UCLA doesn't have the pins for that to be the case. May be a long year for the Bruins. Exactly, add Buechler is up front with only 2 hitters. That's asking alot. Anderson hasn't helped much from the pipe, so looking for Sealy to work at a 6-2, taking pressure off the OHs by regularly having 3 options, and improving the block. Drolson 4 digs, Inouye 3, so not sure how much you're losing. Although I thought the block was porous, the Chandler-Frager combo in particular, and this must have made playing defense a bit of a nightmare. What Sealy hopefully learned tonight: ---Buechler could use the help of a middle decoy, and as you said pass 6 rotations ---Chandler is a hitters target, but the better setter ---The backrow defense will struggle without a decent block ---A slow middle will get exploited by decent teams My question, where's Izzy? I like the idea of a 6-2, but this potentially takes away from UCLA's best hitter, Felix. She is best off of one foot and crushes the slide. I agree something needs to change and a 6-2 would probably help this offense, so maybe an oppo that can do some work in front of the setter too. Just a thought. Also, with all of the littles they have running around that back row, passing and defense should be on point, and it is just not there. This team...
