I do not know why 4 events is what I heard. Could be scheduling as Julianna is still trying to make the Olympics. Wasn't there some silly ass rule about Manhatten Beach tourney having to be American players or something like that? Like I said it will be interesting to see how this plays out or even if it does as nothing is set in stone yet. Brazil has already named their olympic teams, so Juliana will be available. So how is the AVP going to allow this to happen without allowing other non-American player to enter their events?

So how is the AVP going to allow this to happen without allowing other non-American player to enter their events? Yes, as I remember that "rule" went into effect in the mid-90s. The prize money was near peak and many of the better Brazilian players began to take advantage of it....much to the chagrin of the more marginal American players who put a lot of time in on the sand to attenpt to capitalize. When players like Anjinho, Loiola, Fred and Neto began cutting heavily into the winners shares, it didn't go over too big. There were probably many reasons, but the bottom line was the game was beginning to change and it was met with challenges. One of the things I have always loved about the events was that if you won, you got paid for it. If for any reason you and your partner didn't show up that weekend, you didn't. Personally, I had a great time watching those guys play and it added an excitment factor to the matches flavored in nationalism. But I wasn't one of the American guys whose rent was due either. Always two sides........

Just wondering...would a green card be a factor regarding eligibility of a foreign player? Or do you have to be a U.S. citizen?
