China/Russia is going to be a monster match tomorow though. And we can take solace that the quality of the Olympics will be much better because of this result. Let's face it, World Cup has been boring because of the diluted field. That will be another interesting match to watch. I think Russia should have the edge tomorrow. The Chinese will probably be scared of Russia after watching this match, and combined with their inexperience, they may fall to Russia.

The way she ended that last timeout in the third set was very hysterical. Her teammates appeared confused and shocked by her screaming. Not a good look. Also, I can't seem to remember the last time Harmotto played well at a major international event. Dixon has earned the opportunity to start opposite Akinradewo IMO. It was odd and awkward I thought. "We've worked too friggin hard. Let's go" [Then goes and sits on the bench.] How she scream in single elimination Rio final round?

Im still new to USA volleyball and olympics and stuff For the last Olympics, what tournament did USA qualify in, and the NORCECA, is it tough? USA should easily qualify out of the NORCECA even if they start the second stringers. DR is still missing their star player DLC and PR, well, just doesn't have the enough firepower to take out USA. Agree with trojansc, it will be "tanking show" for the NORCECA qualification as all of these teams will try to avoid USA in the semis. I believe De La Cruz will be healthy by then unless there is something seriously complicated in her shoulder. She started therapy a couple days ago. May 2016 is a long time away. I'm not sure DR is going to tank the semifinals, especially since they are hosting the tournament, but it's sure going to be interesting. The FIVB did an investigation into the Japan-Serbia controversy last qualification year and said it wasn't a fixed match, but we all know how Thailand felt... Puerto Rico and Cuba would be national heros if they managed to even take a set off USA. Don't see that happening

I thought they changed it so the NORCECA qualifier was later this month as part of the NORCECA Championships?
NORCECA isn't the best at having documented, easy-to-access policies and procedures.

Karch should know you can't challenge four touches, but he could've challenged net touch which would've shown a block touch and won the challenge. Trinsey if you read this please tell Karch this 'trick' for next time. Can ask Sunderland tis true.

Personally, I'd like to see Jordan put up some matches in a USA uniform like she apparently does for her club teams. I love her to death and I know she does a lot of great stuff but she seemed to me to be going through the motions this tournament(this quad actually). I was really hoping she would have a breakout match tonight and just finally kick some butt. When that happens I think the rest of the team will be more successful.
With that being said I know these ladies are busting their butts and obviously don't want to have off nights, but seems to happen when we need it the most. They just need to regroup. They can find a way.

NORCECA isn't the best at having documented, easy-to-access policies and procedures. www.norceca.net/2012%20Events/Calendars/Calendar%202016.htmIt shows as the Men's tournament taking place May 10-16 in Mexico, and the Women's on the same dates in Dominican Republic. But I am not 100% sure. I saw that the NORCECA Champions Cup was listed as the North American Qualification spot on Wikipedia one day, but then I checked again and it said not. It would seem strange to have the continental qualifier so early.

Sigh...... I guess we can kiss our world cup championship goodbye. But how about getting a spot in Rio. Do we still have a chance with this WC? Unlikely but possible. Basically, China has to beat Russia and then lose to Japan. Serbia is in, could possibly even win it. They have Kenya and Argentina left so they are going to finish 10-1. If Russia beats China, they are the winner of the tournament at 10-1 with a lot more pts than Serbia - even though they lost the head-to-head with Serbia (bad tie breaking procedure). They only have Algeria left after China. USA's only hope is for second by winning their last two matches in less than 5 sets against Japan and DR. And they also need China to beat Russia but then lose to Japan. This would leave: Serbia 10-1 27pts USA 9-2 28pts (have to win both matches in 3/4) Russia 9-2 27 or 28 pts if their loss to China is in 5 sets. China 9-2 26/27/28 pts (26 if they win in 5 but lose in 3/4, 27 if they win in 3/4 but lose in 3/4 (or win in 5 and lose in 5), 28 if they win in 3/4 and lose in 5) Both Russia and China cannot end up 9-2 with 28pts. So it will then come down to set w/l ratio. Russia at 9-2 has a best set record of 31-8 (.795) but ratio of 3.875 China at 9-2 w/ 28 pts at best would be 29-8 (.784) and ratio of 3.625 USA if they sweep their last 2 matches would be 29-6 (.829) and ratio of 4.83 (they could even lose a set and still be 29-7 (.806) 4.143. But if they were to win both matches 3-1 would put them behind Russia; 29-8 (.784) 3.625. Hell, even Japan has a shot a qualifying if they win their last 3 matches over SKorea, USA, and China to finish 9-2 and China beats Russia.

Well, actually the NORCECA page has the Olympic qualifier listedMay - 10-16 Dominican Republic Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament www.norceca.net/2012%20events/calendars/Calendar%202016.htmbut that is only a week before the final Olympic qualifier, so I believe it has been changed to the earlier date.
