With Higgins down, thinking we may also see a switch in the Libero and DS positions. With Anderson moving over to the Libero position, and Kahakai becoming the DS. Just as a precautionary measure. Once a Libero starts a set she has to remain the Libero for that set.

Maybe now Koelsch will shine without the added "pressure" of being replaced. But agree, this is now her time to shine and show what's she's got as a starter.

Do not see Higgins coming back till maybe the middle to ending of October. When she is on crutches only means she will be out at least for 2 weeks or so. Fortunate thing is, it happened now instead of later on in the season. The Wahine still have 2 months to go yet, before post season. Which means, Higgins has 2 months to fully recover.

With each passing match, Mitchem is looking more and more comfortable in the Wahine offense. Going into the post season, the Wahine should have 3 solid Middles. Not to mention 2 solid Liberos. So in a way, Higgins injury could be a blessing in disguise for the Wahine. I am thinking it will only make the Wahine that much stronger come post season.

Cal Poly beat LBSU in four sets.

Middles look good because she (kenda) always set them well... rather 'good'. Just look at the Florida match. No surprise on the middles here. I believe Dave will have two well seasoned setters and a a rather painful "shogi" decision to make. Higgins has a wicked server but Kendra holds the opposing middle blockers a fraction more while keeping the OHI left side hitters a bit more honest.

Kendra sets Olivia better because she's taller and also athletic herself.
And yeah, Hawaii was out of sorts in set 2 on offense. Could see Kendra having to warm up and some off sets and double contacts. She settled out in set 3.
I think Kendrahas more upside, but Higgins is MUCH more smoother.

There are positives and negatives that people will always find in both our setters. Lets just be happy both are good enough to run the offense without too much drop off. Now if Kendra could only jump serve like Higgins. Lol! What a hypocrite I am.

Kendra's sets to the left are way to high/slow... I cringe every time she sets the left... For the Record many Hawaii High schools could beat Fullerton...lol...

Higgins should be smoother, she has had way more match reps than Kendra. That being said, Kendra is much more a of an offensive threat so far. Her blocking is more imposing as well.

I have enjoyed reading Hawaii treads for their insights on their team and the league. Kaualboy or just boy, Fullerton took Alabama, UCR, and UCI to 5 sets. Could your high school teams do that. Hawaii is a top ten team. They were expected to have an easy time tonight. There is no reason to rag on Fullerton. Fullerton will be back sooner than you think!

Fullerton has good players but not enough time for the coach to fully initiate and implement her system. Even the top High school teams will not come close. This coach won't let it happen.

Hint, hint, Dave Shoji, once Higgins heals, have her play the back row, and Kendra play the front row. That would make use of both of their strengths. Higgins, serving and digging, Kendra, blocking and offensive ability.

One setter deep is not a good position to be in either way.

I don't see Fullerton coming back anytime soon. Not with the competition in the Big West.
