Higgins should be smoother, she has had way more match reps than Kendra. That being said, Kendra is much more a of an offensive threat so far. Her blocking is more imposing as well. Hint, hint, Dave Shoji, once Higgins heals, have her play the back row, and Kendra play the front row. That would make use of both of their strengths. Higgins, serving and digging, Kendra, blocking and offensive ability. How well did that move work for USC and Minnesota? Stick with one setter. Higgins has great tempo and pace to the pins, while Koelsch has a better connection with the middles

I am not talking about a true 6-2 offense, just one that makes use of the strengths of both setters.

I must admit, Nikki Taylor is one smart player. In a match she knew the Wahine would win handily, she looked like she was only swinging at about 75%. Not putting to much wear and tear on her arm. Very smart move on her part.

Kendra's sets to the left are way to high/slow... I cringe every time she sets the left... For the Record many Hawaii High schools could beat Fullerton...lol... I don't think so. Fullerton has good players but not enough time for the coach to fully initiate and implement her system. Even the top High school teams will not come close. This coach won't let it happen. Oh GOSH, don't be so freakin sensitive... It was nice to see Fullerton celebrate a sideout like they had won the national championship...

In maybe 2011 or 2012, Mia Tabberson came in and blocked for Alexandra Palmer in the front row. Those were not 6-2 offenses...

I have enjoyed reading Hawaii treads for their insights on their team and the league. Kaualboy or just boy, Fullerton took Alabama, UCR, and UCI to 5 sets. Could your high school teams do that. Hawaii is a top ten team. They were expected to have an easy time tonight. There is no reason to rag on Fullerton. Fullerton will be back sooner than you think! Fullerton just may be the sleeper so Hawaii better not rest on their laurels and I agree with you. I respect Fullerton completely.

Exactly what I concluded in the Florida match... everything else being equal, i'll take the four (4) blocks, and no service errors over the high risk high reward jump serve.

Any word on Tayler Higgins's injury?
What a bizarre match. I couldn't watch it in real time so I watched the replay at around 11:00 PM last night. I wasn't expecting an exciting match at all. On the play Higgins got injured, I noticed that one girl (I couldn't tell who) remained on the floor while the others were celebrating. I immediately knew something was wrong. When the girl was identified as Higgins, I thought, "be careful what you wish for." We now get to see Koelsch for an extended period of time -- weeks or perhaps a couple of months. We'll see what she can do when pressed to start match after match after match. I found it funny that the ESPN announcers, including Brittany Hochevar, were making a big deal out of the inexperience of the "sophomore setter" (Koelsch). Hochevar said that playing a team like Cal St Fullerton would give Koelsch good experience to run the offense. Umm...I guess they didn't realize that Koelsch was the setter that led the Wahine to victory against then-#2 Florida. I think Koelsch can handle it. (I have to admit that some of her sets were downright ugly. But I have patience.)
