Coach Cook gave the girls an 'unusual' day off today (Thurs.) because he felt that they didn't have their legs in last night's match, even though he was very pleased in how they responded. I'm sure a Friday/Saturday probably would have worked out much better for the Huskers at home, but the schedule is what it is.

Not really that rare. They also don't really have "off days" it would usually be yoga or some other type of "active recovery"

Wow. MSU just imploded there. I think it was more like NE responded to set 1 and stepped it up; serving, blocking, and defense.

Watched the match and here are my thoughts.
- DOT was correct in 1st sets with Nebraska can be a circus! They need to find a way to correct this or they could lose some matches to teams they should not lose to. Although, Nebraska does not have the deer in the head-lights look, or get overly dejected when losing a set or going in the hole during a match. Last year's team probably would have lost set 3 at PSU and may have lost last night after getting down early, but this years team shows a faith or confidence that they know they are good and can win against anyone. I also don't see any poor body language when someone is pulled and that is a big sign they have become a team. - Nebraska is deep....... Foecke was not playing that poorly, and on many other top teams she stays in because those teams do not have people on the bench ready to step in without a significant drop off. Three pretty good middles so if someone is off or injured no real issues (except I would not want Amber out for a significant period). Every player that comes in for DS or back row play is very good or worst case above average and they play great team defense.
- MSU may have the widest margin between when they play great and when they play poorly. There were stretches during the match I was thinking they have potential to be top 10 team with the weapons they have, but then they have so many self inflected errors (besides service errors) that seems to crush their stretches of great play. I was not impressed with their libero play, or overall passing, but their setter is very good and they have some great weapons and size on the front row. If this team gets an NCAA bid they are going to be a headache for a seeded team in the second round (Kansas, Kentucky watch out).

What's going on with Foeke? Huge match against PSU and now she is barely playing.... Maybe Cook is trying to develop that other go to hitter in Ostrander. She is big and strong and I do believe that Cook is trying to give her every opportunity he can. Just an opinion. GBR

But those off days he has them moving pianos at the Steinway factory are absurd. How'd the Cook mic go last night? I only caught one use of it.

I was just checking in on match between Arrieta mowing down Pirates.

Yes. He said they were directing too much of their offense at Monson.

Yeah, I saw the mic clipped to his shirt and the only time they shared anything was the statement about going to Monson too much. He is funny to watch during a match because the matches I have seen you cannot tell if they are up by 10 or down by 10. He always seems to have that straight brow going with the Clint Eastwood-like squint. LOL

On midweek matches like this with Iowa and Nebraska do the Michigan's go home or stay here? Michigan flew home last night.
