Georgia Tech setter Lindsey Laband was named ACC player of the week. She had 70 assists in the 3-1 win over Clemson earlier this week. ramblinwreck.collegesports.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/100404aab.htmlFor what it's worth (and from an untrained eye), GT's issues this year have had less to do with them missing Kele Eveland's setting than it does from missing her leadership and fire. I think they also miss Alex Preiss's fire as well. There doesn't seem to be an overly vocal leader on the floor... It's been nice to see them get on a little bit of a roll in ACC play after facing a very tough early schedule. Hopefully that early season experience will serve them well later in the year.

I was very pleased to see Lindsey get ACC POW. She is very deserving. She has progress a lot since the start of the season. GT's early season problems stem from several causes: new setter, poor blocking resulting in poor defense, and poor serving. GT looks like a different team the past couple of weeks...whew, finally!!! They are a team to be wary of now, due to Lindsey's development. Congrats Lindsey.

Not just fire, Preiss had a large amount of the offense and blocking. It has been an uphill battle to replace her despite good talent at MB. Throw in the leadership and drive of Preiss and you have really big shoes to fill.
