Big West… probably on a historical basis. Right now? That's a much tougher question. Well IB.... this could be your next statistical project.

Normally I would say the Big West without question, but this year the WCC looks pretty strong....still not sure what's wrong with Pepperdine though, because they SHOULD be a whole lot better than they are currently playing.....kind of like UCLA, underachievers both of them are!

Why don't you choose to match the lowest ranked 8 teams? Anyway, two of these contests have been played: between your number two teams, Santa Clara swept Pacific -14, -22, -29. Between your cellar-dwellers, Idaho swept Gonzaga -27, -26, -18. Among all teams, the WCC holds a 6 to 4 match advantage, and also has an average better Pablo score: Big West vs. West Coast 157 Cal Poly L 14-30, 20-30, 25-30 89 Portland 57 Cal State Fullerton L 18-30, 29-31, 31-33 36 Loyola Marymount 59 Idaho W 30-27, 30-26, 30-18 148 Gonzaga 59 Idaho W 30-20, 30-23, 30-21 89 Portland 18 Long Beach State W 30-25, 26-30, 30-17, 30-22 14 San Diego 19 Pacific L 14-30, 22-30, 29-31 23 Santa Clara 85 UC Riverside L 16-30, 21-30, 22-30 36 Loyola Marymount 85 UC Riverside W 30-25, 30-20, 30-32, 28-30, 15-12 106 San Francisco 85 UC Riverside L 27-30, 26-30, 25-30 23 St. Marys 94 Utah State L 22-30, 25-30, 25-30 23 St. Marys Big West 4-6 0.400 West Coast Finally, at the top, the AVCA rates SCU and St. Marys 12th and 19th; it rates UCSB and LBSU 13th and 23rd.

Well, last weeks Pablo had the WCC@63.3 and the Big West@64.8. However, it looks like the new Pablo has been incorporated into the individual results? If this is true then UCSB drops to #12 but Cal Poly actually moves up a bit, Cal State Fullerton moves up from 75 to 59, and UOP moves up to 19. I didn't check them all. Given that, the Big West may pass the WCC or ay least it's average may increase.

Nice work publius. I forgot that Santa Clara had trounced Pacific earlier this year. Guess I'd have to change my pick on that one.

The new Pablo is out and the Big West nips the WCC by 0.4. Perhaps we should call this a draw?

If you're talking CURRENTLY, then you should consider that Pacific has improved since that early meeting. Of course, I know nothing of how Santa Clara has changed since that match....

If you're talking CURRENTLY, then you should consider that Pacific has improved since that early meeting. Of course, I know nothing of how Santa Clara has changed since that match.... Well, at the time they played, Santa Clara was ranked #22 and Pacific was unranked. Currently, Santa Clara is ranked #12 and Pacific is unranked. So I guess it would be fair to say that Santa Clara has improved.
