tonight at 7pm I was gonna say it's being broadcast over the internet by LMU at www.LMULions.com as the UCSB preview article said, but it's yahoo's pay subscription, so if you have that you can catch it otherwise

Whenever there's a job opening at a major powerhouse school, I'm always wondering whether Steve Stratos's name will be shortlisted for the vacancy. But perhaps he likes it down there in Santa Monica. The pier and all...

The gauchos are stinking up the court. In game one they had a 28-23 lead and then proceeded to shank passes until they lost 31-29. In game 2 once again they were up by a much as 7 and in control of the game and then compleatly folded at the end to lose 30-27. A pretty sad peformance. (And I paid Yahoo $5 to listen to it.)

I guess at the break Kathy explained to them that being a good host did not require you to give games to the opposition. Gauchos win game 3 30-17. The question is, can they keep that focus?

Yes, although I haven't heard her name all that much. From what I can tell, it is really the gaucho passing that has been the problem. We hit about .350 over the first three games, however, I have heard "has to pass it over" way too many times.

Evidently Kathy has decided that she does not want a repeat of the Pacific game so Baylee Hassett has been playing regularly. I think that that inserting someone new in the back row may be causing some confusion. Nelson and Hassett just collided in the back row and missed a dig.

It's almost over, LMU up 28-25. The other thing that seems to be missing is ucsb's serving. We have been an excellent serving team this year up to the last couple of games. Our only aces this match came from Hendrickson in game 1 and she was yanked later for other reasons.

Gauchos lose 33-31 or 32-30. They have no one to blame but themselves. They are just not ready for prime time. Congrats to LMU.

UCSB out-hits LMU .343 to .273 (mainly due to poor Lion third game numbers) and lose in four. Nerison 24 kills for LMU, Sandell 20 kills for UCSB. Blackshire hits .484 with 17 kills.
Loyola Marymount.... 31 30 17 33 10-5 UC Santa Barbara.... 29 27 30 31 9-2
