The Terps just beat Iowa 3-1, and Adreené Elliott broke the Maryland career solo blocks record on her Senior Night. The old record was 97, and Elliott's 3 tonight put her career total at 99.
Pretty good last home match for the Terps!

I've been impressed on how Maryland has improved the last half of the season. Yeah, they were not competitive with Minnesota, but otherwise they generally have been. Definitely promising for the future.
Meanwhile, Iowa, who seemed to be improving last year, and the beginning of this year, was a total disappointment. Maybe Jackie Simpson was the spark!

Should probably warn people (all five or six of them) that this thread contains a spoiler.

If you're into Maryland or Iowa VB and you click on this thread, honestly, you deserve a spoiler.

Kudos to Maryland on making some improvements, but wasn't there a good amount of people on here that were predicting Iowa and their savior coach to turn things around overnight? Sure looks like they have themselves back on track (for Iowa that is, which is not on a good track). They turned into transfer central this year and they have gotten worse in the Big Ten. I think people on here that support Iowa VB want to see steady improvement. Last year they beat IU/Purdue/Northwestern/swept Maryland. This year they got swept by Maryland and went backwards with all of their high level transfers. I guess people can argue that they are much better off with the new coach as they are getting potentially better recruits/transfer players, but what about results?

Does anyone remember when the announcement was made that Maryland and Rutgers would join the B1G? Everyone said that Iowa had to be the happiest WVB team. We all laughed and laughed and laughed. Who's laughing now?

My preseason prediction for maryland finishing in the third tier has not quite worked out the way I thought it should have. The Maryland loss to Rutgers did not help their standings and I thought they would have swept Indiana while at least splitting with Northwestern. Think I predicted them to finish 10th this year. Still, they have a good shot at making some moves next year
