I actually think Carlini and Santana will be co-players of the year in the BT. There's also an outside chance SSS could be in the conversation.

I actually think Carlini and Santana will be co-pilot erstwhile of the year in the BT. There's also an outside chance SSS could be in the conversation. Im as big of an SSS fan there is, but she isnt going to be poy in the big ten. I think in a couple of years she will definitely be in that conversation though

I think SSS is Big Ten FOY for sure and in the running for NFOY, but I'd see Daly getting conference POY over her.

If Minnesota makes a solid run the next couple of weeks, SSS should be in the NFOY talk. I'd say she is the front runner....biggest impact by a freshman on a top 5 team. I see you didn't say top 6 teams (Stanford-Hodson) because then your theory falls apart

If BYU makes it deep again, Alexa Gray could be a sleeper for NPOY.

IMO we are heading for a big test of the final four rule. Perhaps Carlini because of the brand if Wisconsin makes it, but I just don't see how you give it to ANY other OH other than Bricio this year, regardless if USC makes the final four or not. The numbers are CLEARLY in her favor. It's not even that close. Compared to Santana, she gets definitively more kills, more aces, more blocks, more points, and hits for a higher percentage. She's LEADING the country in points per set, and by a wide margin on the next credible candidate, hitting .300, while playing on a top 3 team. Klineman 2010?

I see you didn't say top 6 teams (Stanford-Hodson) because then your theory falls apart SSS is doing more for Minnesota than Hodson is doing for Stanford. Minnesota was unranked last year with the exact same starting lineup sans SSS. With her, they're a contender for a national championship. Hodson is a great player, but SSS is doing more in a better conference on a higher ranked team. Leading your team to a B1G title as a freshman can't be overstated.

Why is Carlini always in the discussion? I agree if the Lauren Carlini is one of the best players in the country, but her team has not had a great year. It's hard to be the NPOY as a setter if your team has not had a great year. This doesn't make any sense.

POY will almost definitely be Bricio. The only other possible contenders are Carlini or Santana; and those two could only get it if USC is out early and Minn or Wisc makes a deep run. Santana is only hitting .249%; not worthy of POY contention. Although she has a lot of kills and attacks. There are more deserving POY nominees out there for sure. In her defense Santana has been playing tougher opponents night in and night out in the B1G where just about every opponent can beat anyone and that has been proven with NW and Michigan beating PSU and Purdue beating Minn. Sometimes I wonder if Bricio could produce the same quality of numbers night after night after night playing at such a high level every match. I'm sorry but I don't think the PAC-12 requires her to play at a very high level every time. Santana's hitting % is also lower than it should be for the MANY down balls she hits over and fixed balls she hits over bringing her # of attempts through the roof. I still think Bricio will get it, I just think Santana isn't that far behind considering how big she has been for Minn.
