All the Oregon worry on here...hope the badgers don't forget there is another game after if they win. Hope we don't have a replay of 2007 with Iowa State -- although there is no guarantee ISU wins against Miami.
So much to worry about. I love it!!!

I am worrying just one match at a time. If they get past OU I will reset immediately!
So, OU will get to find as many WI match in the btn archives as possible and Sheffield will get one "tape. "

I don't think Oregon is going to defeat the Badgers at Wisconsin. If its a neutral site, then there is a big chance. Or maybe extend the match to 4 or even 5 sets. Oregon is just too inconsistent right now. They can compete with anyone in the first 15 points of each set (and maybe take the lead), but their inconsistencies will eventually catch up and will make them lose.
If Bettendorf AND LVW are on, they're tough to stop.

Yeah, but is Wisconsin's setter any good?

Let me make sure I understand this. And someone please correct me if I'm making an error. Wisconsin is the #6 seed. Penn State is the #7 seed. Good so far? Wisconsin finished 1 full game ahead of Penn State in the B1G. Still good? Wisconsin has to open the tournament - first round - against RPI #48 Oregon, a Pac12 team. Am I still doing okay? Penn State, the perennial host of C.U.P.C.A.K.E. central, with an annual pass to the round of 16 opens against a team with an RPI of 228. Is that f***** or what? I've said it before (darned near every post season) and I'll say it again: "every stinking year one could throw together as good a post season bracket as this idiot committee does simply by drawing names out of a hat". This foolish committees consistency is truly astonishing. They never cease to amaze/surprise with their idiocy.

If Bettendorf AND LVW are on, they're tough to stop. You are correct that inconsistency and the uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory have been Oregon's downfall this season. But they became more consistent and closed out more games at the end of the season. The only loss in their last five games was to UW, and they still played well in that match. They beat a good UCLA team in LA. When their offense is clicking, it's one of the best in the country. So while I think the Badgers pull this one out in Madison, particularly since they have been playing well themselves, I would not be shocked to see the Ducks emerge victorious. I agree with everyone here that this is kind of a ridiculous first round pairing. OTOH, it should be a very entertaining first round pairing and if the Badgers can't beat the Ducks at home, well, let's just say their chances of a deep run probably weren't all that great to begin with.

Pablo gives the Ducks an 18% chance of winning. At 82%, the Badgers probability of winning their first round match is lower than any other seed except #16 Creighton, which Pablo says is a 69% favorite against Coastal Carolina.

We should have a monkey do the draw next year and see how it compares with the committee.

This is what worries me about this matchup, and Coach Sheffield himself has said it: it's a different style of play than the Badgers are used to seeing. In fact, what the coaches are used to seeing. Maybe they didn't have as much success early on in Pac 12 as they were trying to iron it out. Now they have, and they had a surge. My understanding is that the play a 6-2. That's just not something you see in the Big Ten.
One factor in the last third of the season for the Badgers, is that in addition to good ball control (and at Purdue, some fantastic offense), they got used to the style of the Big Ten and thrived in it. They've got about one set to figure things out against Oregon. I wish I knew more about them myself.
He also said basically to stop whining about the first round matchup, so let's "bring it." That doesn't mean I can't continue to whine about PSU's consistent double bye first weekend (although if they match Dayton, I like that matchup).

I wonder what the life expectancy of a Badger fan is? With all this worrying, and beer, brats, and cheese a cardiologist is a pretty good profession in Wisconsin! LOL
