Good for Wisconsin. That's a pretty good win to start the tournament. Wouldn't normally expect the #6 seed to get that good a team to start with. Nice match for Gillis -- not so much for Bates or Kriskova. Bates started out really hot, I was watching on a tiny little phone for the first two sets so could not tell if they adjusted to her or if she just came back to earth. Middles and one OH carried it, typical game for Wis. Morey/Bates 17/18 digs. To answer the question now that head to head has been seen Morey Bates' focus seems to come and go during a match... she had 7 kills and zero errors the first set. ended with 7 errors and hit .180 or something..

WI block improved as the match went on. 12-9 advantage. Bates and Gillis exchanged being hot. Kriskova had errors, but picked it up as the match went on.

There is a suburb of Madison called Oregon, pronounced O-ri-GONE. My sister and her family live there. Nice little town.

At least three of Kriskova's errors were on broken plays she was trying to make something out of. I still feel that the sets to Kriskova often look behind her. I'm not sure if she wants it that way or not.

This Oregon team got a raw deal from the committee in their draw with Wisconsin! They could have easily upset a seeded team a little further down the list. Swap them & New Hampshire and this match could easily have been a regional semi final!

Congrats to Wisconsin. They executed when they needed to. Carlini was the clear difference maker in creating opportunities for her team.
Like a lot of the season, we showed we could play with the top teams but just couldn't stay with them the whole way. A lot of the young guns showed pretty well. It will be sad to see Martenne not on the team next year, but I'm glad she had some highlight reel kills she'll be able to look back on. Can't complain too much about the draw considering the opportunities we let slip. hopefully next year we'll be able to be more consistent, find a 3rd passer, and get more solid on the second contact so we can host.

Last year's last team in, Michigan St., got to play the #43 RPI team in the first round. Like I said, Ducks had chances to better their lot, but that's just a silly sentiment

I'm exhausted, which is a testament to how hard Oregon played. Really good volleyball from them.

I had Wisconsin in 5 but they don't lose at home often. Oregon gave their best effort. Glad they showed they were worth being in the tourney.

I guess my point is: It's dizzying how quickly fans can go from "Gosh, yesterday we didn't know if we were in and we did, in face, make it in" to "We got a raw deal because we deserved to face a lousy team."

The Ducks are young and were impressive...I thought they had some great servers! They should be proud of themselves. Deceptive offense and tenacious on defense. Glad the Badgers could keep it together.

FYI , I'm a badger fan.... I guess they have woods in OR, and they're technically "North", but if you can't get a Spotted Cow it's not the Northwoods;) Clearly this was a good team, playing well at the end of the season & they could have beaten a lower raked team in my opinion. Glad WI moves on and was challenged!

First of all, Oregon fans weren't saying a raw deal. And secondly, you have to recognize that it is a very, very unusual draw. It's the only at-large team (or at-large caliber team) facing a seed in the first round, and not only that one of the highest. Oh, and the only seed to have to face an at-large team in the first round last year was Oregon, to boot.
