It really annoys me when huskies fans are complaining about Haley won COY over Cook. I can understand the outrage if the winner is someone else not named Haley. Colorado fans are the one who have the right to be out-raged over the non selection. THREE teams below them in conference standing make it and they didnt. IT must be very disheartening for the team I'm not outraged Haley won. I think he and Cook were both solid possible winners. I'm just annoyed by the weak sauce rationalizations being thrown around to justify the choice. I am outraged, however, by the way that AS A WHOLE, the honors clearly don't reflect the strength and performance of the teams. And yes, these are individual awards, but teams are made up of individuals. And frankly, I'm not upset about USC's awards anyway. I'm more bothered by the way that Stanford once again just seems to pull in all the awards for their players, even in a year when there were not one but two teams of other players who (as teams) pretty clearly outperformed the Cardinal. Unless Dunning was out there bribing people (and I'm sure he was not), this isn't the fault of Stanford. It's just that I'm getting really tired of the awards all being biased toward 5-1 teams, even as 6-2 is becoming more and more the dominant system. Two years ago when the Huskies outright won the conference, they also got heavily snubbed for All-PAC, but they did get COY and POY. This year they didn't even get that.

IMO: Gabby is a very good setter; but she is an elite OPP, and continues to improve. Hard for anyone to fill Karsta Lowe's shoes, but Gabby has a game moving in that direction. Would not want to see her setting next year, because she is becoming increasingly lethal from back court. The main reason I will tune in next year to watch Colorado, will be to see how Gabby Simpson is doing. I have a feeling she has a few more fans out there, too. I watched her play WSU last week...what a weapon!

I just don't get Colorado making the tournament. RPI is what it is, I guess, but Oregon was a heck of a lot better than their RPI, and I think the Buffaloes were as well.

I think the Buffs and Liz might be in trouble in a couple years. Taylor Simpson deciding to play her last two seasons at CU (and bringing her sisters along) has been huge for this program. CU has no middle attack, but they do have a very good opposite, a solid libero, a good setter, and a solid OH in Austin. They need to find a setter (or let Gabby set and find an OPP), 2 OH and a middle for next year. Abu has some potential as a defensive minded MB2. As for ASU, that's an interesting case. They had some really good wins with Gardner, and some bad losses without her. The committee obviously took the body of work as a whole, and that's why they got in. I think it's crazy to say CU has no middle attack. Pfeff got 2 k/s and hit above .340. Yeah she's no Akinradewo but she is definitely an offensive threat and I think we will see more of that next season without Austin around to take so many swings. Abu definitely needs to sharpen up on offense a bit - I don't think we need her to be a big threat but she's gotta be able to get it down when it comes to her. Her blocking, especially as a freshman, was impressive. 2 k/s is 6-8 a match. That doesn't inspire fear in me as an opposing coach or middle. I'll let her take 2 a set, and release my middle to go after the pins. Pfefferle does have a nice jump float, which helps to save some subs for key situations.

Seems like an odd time to be firing Kritza. The have had some decent seasons lately, including this year. Pretty brief comments from the A.D.
