Shoji knows the trip well. Are they flying tonight? Tomorrow ? If I recall correctly, Shoji said they'd probably fly out Tuesday (red eye) and reach wednesday mid day. Get light practice on Wednesday evening and then a full day practice on Thursday.

2-3 hour drive is nothing. Even Hawaii residents spend that much time in traffic WITHIN Honolulu during rush hour when there's a car accident on H1. For me, driving from Honolulu airport to Hawaii Kai is a nightmare during rush hour. How about Ewa beach to Waikiki in the morning? Hehehe

What's the capacity of the hall or arena where the match will be played?

There's a united direct flight that leaves Honolulu to Houston at 8 tonight. Wonder if the wahines will be on that flight I hope they are on the United non-stop flight as it provides the shortest trip to Houston. Seven hours flight time. Avoids intermediate stops like LAX. When I checked this morning there were plenty of seats available so I would think they are on this flight since Shoji indicated they were flying out tonight ...

I think the return flight is longer because you're going against what they call wind something?

As the only Texan on the Wahine team, maybe Mitchem needs to persuade her fans to come. Had to look up Friendswood but it is only 15 miles outside Houston. Too bad she is not cleared to play. Come to think of it, does she even make the trip?

Annie Mitchem is with the team that just left on the 8pm United flight direct to Houston. Then they take a 90 minute bus ride to College Station. Annie said she expects only a few relatives and friends to attend the match. A high school teammate of hers Jillian Bergeson is the starting outside for TCU, she was a year behind of Annie. Annie redshirted a year so both are now juniors. Shoji wants her to experience the NCAAs. As of today (Tues) she is not cleared to play. Expect a good number of Hawaii booster club members to attend, as the President of the club was taking a head count from yesterday with good results. Karrie (Trieschman) Poppinga is the only Wahine I know of that lives in Texas (Austin). She's the head coach of St. Stephens High and does some club too.

Karrie is doing very well as a HC, from what I gather online. Good for her!
