Is it hawaii you hate? Or just its fans? Neither. I like trolling them because they're passionate. It's similar to when Husker fans get baited. I'm a Shoji fan and appreciate Hawaii's program. However, I do maintain they their stats and record are inflated by feasting on chumps all year. I know Hawaii fans don't like to hear it, they just play who's on the schedule, but the point remains. ah gotcha ... that's some interesting rationale though ... nebraska fans get trolled b/c of their passion, so then as a nebraska fan, why not go troll another group of passionate fans on here? ok carry on ... i will say that your back and forth with bik is at least entertaining ...

Perhaps Shoji should invite TCU to the islands for one of the preseason tournaments. in one of the star-advertiser articles this morning, it mentioned that tcu spends more ($15,000) on average for each of its volleyball players, than hawaii does (about $11,000) for its players. so they certainly have the funds ... maybe ...

Maglio stated in an interview that her biggest accomplishment was getting a scholarship offer from Hawaii. Now, it's probably Big West 1st team and, who knows, she might make All-American this year -- at least honorable Mention. i love how she's steadily improved over the course of the season. if not for her (and magill), it would have been even more of a throttling in set 1 last night. i think she also got hawaii's first block of the match ...

You can say Hawaii played bad, but Nikki Taylor is not over-hyped. This was not a good day for her but she still managed to get 21 kills. In fact, this was the worst I've seen the team play. We'll see how they play tomorrow. Iam sorry I beg to differ. I have been waiting to see Nikki Taylor play her best and it's always average. Hawaii fans keep comparing her to Samantha Bricio. Please don't ! Bricio hits at a high average day in and day out, NT does not. She is a good player, but she is not great. You really don't know Nikki Taylor. People who bring down others without knowing the facts really go out of the way to do so. I start to wonder about them.

One of the main reasons that I'm glad UH won yesterday is because it was Shoji's birthday and whether it was a good or bad one probably depended on the outcome. Team singing to him after the match.

the positives last night ...
hawaii found a way to raise their game. tcu was playing at a high level, and when you think about it, they played very steady start to finish. tcu hit for .300+ for most of the match, and finished just under .300. but hawaii found a way to pick it up, as they couldn't just wait for tcu to come back to earth (because for the most part tcu didn't). tcu challenged hawaii to raise their game last night, and hawaii did it.
all 5 hitters in double-digit kills. that's only happened one other time this season (the 3-1 win at lbsu).
the middles were fantastic last night. great leadership from magill in particular, and maglio stepping up when the team needed her.
taylor and olevao were hitting negative .300 and zero after set 1. but found a way to up their percentages to .119 and .195, respectively. ultimately, those are not great percentages, but considering the hole they put themselves in, those are .400 and .200 point swings in their hitting.
the blocking eventually did show up. not necessarily in the stat sheet, but they did start to soft block more of tcu's shots.
the floor defense, led by kahakai, was stellar. no one on either team was close to kahakai's 23 digs.
the negatives ...
not being able to take tcu out of their game. even in the sets that hawaii won, tcu was right there with them. the inability to slow down opposing hitters is going to be a problem, especially against teams with bigger hitters.
the passing (which we knew all season was inconsistent) ... was inconsistent.
the setting also inconsistent ... just gotta hope that higgins (and koelsch) has steadier play.
the emotion? where's the emotion from the florida match ... even from the loss to ucla. c'mon wahine, it's postseason. you gotta leave all out there on the court.

hoping that Taylor remains injury free the rest of the tournament. She seemed to be limping yesterday. I think she is an amazing player but an injury is bothering her.

Even the most skeptic should be impressed by how Hawaii came back from a seemingly hopeless situation. TCU was playing a high level; Hawaii at their lowest level. But they came back and won at the very last minute. I see this as a positive.

Come on, you have to give TCU credit. They had a major part in Hawaii playing poorly.

Unfortunately, Smith when down late in the 4th set but they didn't lose hope. Taylor and Manu Olevao struggled, Hawai'i was outblocked and yet the Wahine still found a way to win.
