Here's what I learned at the banquet: Fans have no clue what's going on with the team and we should just stick to posting scores and lineups on volleytalk. Just gonna leave this hang out there? We already knew this but was this what you took away or was it specifically mentioned? And Molly is the worst-dressed player. Not really agreeing with this statement http://instagr.am/p/BPTEthljIau I don't think anyone on here is actually saying that she is in real life the worst dressed player on the team. In the blooper reel they were doing one of the things where they asked all the players the same question. One of the questions was "Who's the worst dressed player on the team?" They all giggled and answered Molly.

Gotcha, I just tried to watch some of the videos they have on their twitter feed from the banquet but at the moment they are all persicoped from a difficult to see angle, patiently waiting for the real ones to come out.

why is the W on the jacket a white box with a ridge at the bottom?

Right, Rainbow. I have only seen Haggerty in uniform or just yesterday so I have no idea. I didn't clearly note where that reference came from. I believe Gillis referred to an ensemble of green sweatpants and red sneakers that Haggerty wore one day.
Yes, the Mr. C letter. It was a wonderful piece.
And since the banquet was just yesterday, lucky, why do we have to move on? Isn't that the point, to celebrate and close out the sesson?
We are already well into the Wisconsin 2017 thread, so we can simultaneously move on AND celebrate.
Brooklyn I think that has been the style of the jacket forever. Go back 50 years...same jacket.

Interesting comments from Sheff. Sometimes, I feel he was a little too emotionally invested in this group of players. I mean, it's important that they feel he cares, but he's also got to know that the season will end in disappointment much more often than not. I also kind of feel he was running himself into the ground this year. He often seemed ill. Still he had enough self awareness to bring the seniors out that last time at the Field House.

Well, in defense of Sheff, he WAS ill, from about November on. Lexi is in kindergarten and Reagan is in 3K, so they are constantly bringing home all kinds of nastiness. And in his job, you have PTO, but it's not like you can just take it whenever. My coworkers who are parents of small children were out for a week at a time this fall, unless they were on our team that travels a lot, and then it was, "Sorry you're sick. We need you in Nashville." They were in the same boat as Sheff.

I had a similar situation myself in the last 2 weeks dur to illness...meetings I could not say no too...I survived them. Barely.
Kinda like professor who really don't want to cancel class cause they are sick.

The last week of the season, Sheff was so sick at press conferences and sitting in such close proximity to his most important players, who in turn didn't look healthy/well-rested that weekend. They nonetheless played well but after a great start vs. Stanford, they ran out of steam. Maybe colds, lack of sleep or whatever wasn't THE decisive factor in losing, but it had to be A factor. I would say the decisive factor was probably the tall and/or talented scholarship players on the other side of the net. :-)

The end of the volleyball season overlaps with the beginning of the worst part of cold and flu season. Players and coaches are going to get sick, and there's nothing to be done.
