So, can someone run down the LBSU roster, please? I have gotten lost and confused who stayed, left, transferred and came in late.
It sounds like the Beach is definitely going to be giving Hawaii a run this year. I love it!!
I hope the Gauchos and Mustangs provide just as much challenge. I would love to see 4 teams in the tournament. I believe we got the talent to do it.
All of us need to take care of our out of conference opponents!
Lets go BIG WEST!!!!

LBSU has probably not made enough quality changes to be on the same level as Hawaii; however, UCSB and Cal Poly will seriously challenge LBSU for second. I do not think Hawaii will walk through the conference undefeated but the other top three will probably beat each other up enough to be out of contention.

Going to be interesting to see how CSUN and UCI will do.
Both teams bringing in some quality recruits.

Nice to read CSUN is bringing in 3 out of state players from their 5 recruits.
UCI returns 5 starters so hopefully this is the year they put it all together and make it into the NCAA tournament.

Oh trust me, Hawaij will go undefeated in conference. They've got the people to replace the two top players they graduated.

No one will argue that Hawaii is not the clear cut favorite next year but the entire conference has made significant upgrades from last season. There will be multiple NCAA bids next year and Hawaii's losses will reflect that.

There will be multiple NCAA bids next year and Hawaii's losses will reflect that. The only real loss for Hawaii is Magill. People said Hawaii wouldn't go undefeated last season and they did. The other Big West teams may have upgraded....but Hawaii has matured with most it's starters returning. Hawaii will be a complete force and it wouldn't surprise me if they go undefeated yet again. And I don't think Hawaii will have a 6 road games in a roll like last season. Hawaii will be ready and Hawaii will actually be fully HEALTHY coming into the season. Greeley got her surgery and Nikki seems to have healed up nicely. Our girls will be ready.

would not be surprising or shocking if Hawaii went undefeated, nor would it be surprising or shocking if Hawaii lost a match or two
Magill is a big loss, she was so athletic, but still Hawaii returns a ton of talent and experience
Cal Poly has probably the best setter, and also returns some good talent - but still has a huge question mark with their blocking and in the middle and replacing their libero
Long Beach is, frankly a big question mark - lot's of solid options with their Opp and OHs where they should be deep and better up front and in the back row. But who knows how good their setter(s) will be, and their middle(s) is(are) something of a question mark. They could have significant upside, but wait and see - their combined experience of their setters at the D1 level is having set about twelve balls to hitters.
SB may have recruited well, but basically a young and unknown team coming off of a bad season
Hard to say that compared to Hawaii, the rest of the conference has upgraded enough relative to Hawaii
Irvine - again hard to say. Went through various line-ups last year.
for the rest of the conference, it's hard to see challenging Hawaii and a 2nd bid is really up in the air - it comes down to non-conference performance by 3-4 teams where the conference really hasn't been getting enough solid wins to make a decisive case for multiple bids, and then hopefully the rest of the conference minimizing 'bad' losses to sub 150/200 teams

I say watch Annie Mitchem this season. Girl packs a punch and her JC Head coach Pesto will serve as volunteer coach for Hawaii this year. If she ever needed that extra lift and motivation....Pesto is the guy that will help her with that.
Watch our middles do more step outs as well. Last year it was almost non existent.lol
Maglio and Mitchem in the middle will hold the line.

LBSU should have been in the tournament last year and I expect the team to be better this year. Cal Poly was a bubble team last year but lost a couple of winnable matches towards season end. I believe UCSB, CSUN, and UCI will be dramatically improved and hopefully conference play will not be much of a drag on RPI. If I had to make a prediction I would say two road losses for Hawaii.
For LBSU the setting will be the deciding factor and maybe an issue early in the preseason. Sadly in today's environment, mid major teams seasons are made or lost in the preseason.

with the Pac-12 schedule coming out, looks like LBSU's remaining non-conference is set, with the line-up for LB's labor day weekend tournament.
9/2 to 9/3: Cal, Northeastern, & Washington State (same opponents for UCI as well that weekend)
5 Pac-12 opponents: Colorado, Cal, Wazzou, Arizona State, & UCLA
Portland State Texas Tech Colorado Cal Northeastern Washington State LMU Duke Pepperdine Arizona State UCLA San Jose State San Diego San Diego State
seems to be the line-up

Hawai'i returns a veteran team this season. The only question mark for the bows will be the 2nd OH.
Magill is a big loss for Hawai'I as Magill was one of the best blockers in the country last year but Hawai'i will still be very solid in the middle this season. Maglio has the potential to be an AA this year (in indoor- she is already a Beach VB AA). Her game has grown tremendously since she first arrived in Manoa, and I think she will be more of a scoring threat on the attack than Magill was last year for Hawai'i. Mitchem will have had a year with the Wahine program so I anticipate a great senior season for her. It's great that Coach Pesto is on staff this year too. With Adolpho gone, Hawai'i did not have a slide attack last year but both Maglio and Magill can run the slide so it will probably be back as an attack option for Hawai'i this year.
They have the talent to roll through the conference undefeated but it's hard for any team to do that. I do believe they'll win the conference quite handily though. Last year, I said that Hawai'i will be a final four team- they came within a win of the Final Four. This team will have the same potential.
The Big West is a one team bid until it's not so hopefully some of the other teams do well against non conference opponents.

I don't know why Hawaii never chose a mythical creature as their mascot. Say, the chimera.
Anyway, breaking news: Hawaii will win the Big West in 2016.
