This coach has great credentials. Now the hard part. No one knows if they can be a head coach until they really do it. Transitioning from a singer to a head volleyball coach is not easy ...

I do not know Stevie at all. Is this viewed as a good hire? Only time will tell, but on the surface, it's much better than the Fullerton hire.

If you just lost your HC to a mid-pack team in a much weaker conference (b/c of $$$, support, or whatever), getting an up-and-coming assistant from the top program in the nation, particularly one that has also played and coached in your conference, is a pretty darn good hire. I think the AD is feeling pretty good about this. She doesn't need to win the PAC for it to work; IIRC, Watson never finished top half.

Shoot, you're right, I was thinking they were up there in the 3-way tie for 4th. Wow, I thought Watson had led them higher, my bad.

I noted this in the jobs thread, but ASU leads with the fact that the hired the first African-American female HC in a Power 5 program. Except, Linda Hampton-Keith, who JUST left ASU for a head coaching job in Power 5 program NC State is also African-American. That's a bit of an oversight...

A "Linda who?" kind of thing or is ASU Sports Info just not very good?

If I were the ASU SID, I'd be hoping someone would come up with an "Option C," as neither Option A nor Option B are very flattering.

I guess it's a good sign about our racial progress in this country (or it's a sign that I'm getting old) but it never occurred to me that Linda Hampton-Keith was African American.
Anyway, hope Mussie does well at ASU (just not too well twice a year)!
