The national teams train out of Anaheim, but USAV headquarters are in Colorado Springs. thats a bummer. If you're into the LA scene then yes. I'm old, so I'd rather live in the Springs. Great view of the mountains, great skiing and outdoor life, nice bedroom communities, and great lifestyle.

If Beale's house were included in the deal, it might be worth the move. At first sight, Colorado Springs seems great, but it has a strange undertone and weird mix of sub-cultures. And, Denver is too far away to make up for the shortcomings.

They've been dealing with a serious violent crimes issue and gang activity for years now.

As far as a replacement for Beale, Hugh McCutcheon is capable of doing a respectable job as USAV CEO, but his selection would signal a continuation of the status quo. I, for one, would love to see a serious search for a replacement with a different skill set than either Beale or McCutcheon possess. Many of Beale's achievements highlighted in the announcement (the headquarters building and the increased staffing) are built on the cash cow created by the growth of club, and not necessarily through innovative or creative leadership on his part. (That also begs the question of whether Hugh would be interested now that he appears to have established his footing at Minnesota.)

He won't take the pay cut & move away from MN. are you sure? We can get someone attending the HP coaches camp to verify.

Is there a volleyball person out there who has the business acumen to run a NPO and have a personality to be able to promote the sport? Someone who can look beyond club volleyball as funding and bring volleyball to being a top tier professional sport in the US? Is there anyone out there with a fresh approach to USA Volleyball who can not bleed it dry?
Volleyball has the stigma of being an inexpensive sport. For the older people here, most of you like it that way because no one wants to pay the outrageous ticket prices that a Super Bowl, Final Four, etc. commands. If you are not growing, you are dying. Most volleyball people are only concerned about their little world. Beach only cares about beach. Juniors only care about their own program. Colleges only care about their school. Volleyball also needs to get rid of the "old mom & pop grocery store mentality" at the regional & national levels that has stifled its growth for the past 100+ years.

I wouldn't be suprised to see a woman or even someone from the business world outside the old boys network.

He won't take the pay cut & move away from MN. Would it be a pay cut? Also, even if it's a pay cut he's not hurting for money.

The next CEO will come from an NGO like the USOC, an athletic director/league commissioner, or a current member of USAV's board. It won't be anyone actively coaching.

Hugh would certainly be qualified, but his wife is from Minneapolis and family is very important to both Hugh and Wiz.

This is the best season MN has had in awhile and Hugh is starting to get top recruits. I sure hope he doesn't leave anytime soon.
