So with a new CEO can the USAV evolve into an organization that truly grows the game instead of a giant money grab? Can we build to provide professional opportunities so that our future olympians can train at home? Can we make volleyball a game that everyone knows; not neccessarily plays, but one they can follow and understand? Can we get a television network of our own? With streaming and the options available I don't see why we don't already have a volleyball television network.

Hugh would certainly be qualified, but his wife is from Minneapolis and family is very important to both Hugh and Wiz. qualified in the sense he understands international volleyball. Seemingly not qualified (at least on paper) as a CEO, developer of youth programs, marketing etc.... which are far more (or at least should be) important skills. Great NT programs should be a function of being great at all of the things the job entails IMO. If you are marketing, developing, raising money, the national teams should win. Heck they are and I dont know that we are doing those things well.

Someone said Hugh would be qualified.... Requiring 10 years of executive experience with a preference for 5 years as a CEO means they are not going to hire a coach.
Volleyball community people with that background? Kathy DeBoer - AVCA Glenn Lietzke - Austin Juniors/Courts Galore/Tour of Texas/East Coast Volleyball/ etc. and a former member of the board. Molly Menard - CFO of the NVL and Board of Directors for Menards Hardware stores. Bill Neville - CEO of Nevillisms
Is it possible they go the complete other way and find someone not of the volleyball world?

The minimum qualifications in a job posting are rarely real. Except for every government job ever. Not sure how NGO's compare.

To Rogero and others. Here is a name that really covers all the different and excellent points by those with a deep sense and knowledge of what we need in our new leader: Bob Gambardella. Bob was on the "inner circle" for Terry Liskevych with the USA Women's Program while he was the highly successful coach at West Point. Then Bob was asked to come to USA VB to get our grass roots programs organized and put a plan to move forward. I believe (somebody correct me if I am wrong) his first title was: Director of Junior Athlete Development & High Performance Programs. Hence the birth of USA HP. Bible worked tirelessly to get HP off the ground, heal the relationships between the Juniors communits and USA VB and also the Colleges with USA VB. He did a great job bringing in all the constituents to work together for the good of the kids and building the pipeline. It was his dream and vision. One of his future visions was to then have the Regions start up their HP Programs. I remember that first summer with the HP's training in Colorado Springs, he had to be in Sydney, Australia with our Olympic Teams, there was a college assistant coach using her position to "recruit" kids at the HP Camp. Upon his return, Bob put certain rules in place about clothing, and why people were there. To represent USA VB and to do things the right way for the kids, and get rid of and not tolerate the selfish agenda's. Bob was also raising more money for the HP Program then was being raised by USA VB.
Bob then became the: Director of USA Volleyball National Teams. From there he went to the USOC. Believe his title was: Director, Sports Partnerships, NOC Solidarity & Protocol, United States Olympic Committee. During this time he oversaw a couple of NGB's (National Governing Body) sports, USA VB being one of them. I believe that at sometimes even during his tenure with the USOC, USA Judo was embroiled in a mess. Mismanagement of funds, deep debt, leaders using money for prostitutes, and other expensive gifts. USOC asked Bob to go in, head up USA Judo temporarily and fix it. Which he did, raising money, cleaning house some, creating fiscal plans and responsibilities, and starting their High Performance Program.
After returning USA Judo back, Bob returned to the USOC. From my understanding, Bob then had some offers from NORCECA, FIVB and a huge opportunity in Singapore to build and create vision for their infrastructure for all their sports for every level. Some of you can correct me on exactly what it is he is doing there. I believe when he first went, his title was and still may be: Chief of Sport Development & Singapore Sports Institute, and the Singapore Sports Council. This is what I could find out in reaching out to several people who know Bob well.
He has been at every level in this country, can raise money, and he has great international experience, contacts and credibility. Knows all the ins and outs and builds relationships. Think he could be a good one. You guys, please feel free to add or comment.
