This is just assuming that it goes to a power conference this week. It could very well go to a mid-or sub-mid-major.

I would hate to think you didn't view the West Coast Conference, where last weeks POW came from, a power conference at least as powerful as the Mountain West, Big West, WAC, and the ACC!

The reason that Kanoe isn't a choice in the list above is that the National Player of the Week honor is selected from the participating conference player of the week selections. At least, this is my understanding of it! I think any vote for Kanoe is a good one though.

My apologies... I would have put up a WCC over the ACC had I remembered... I just didn't see a report so omitted it. I can only think that a San Diego player will win that award though.

I think the WCC usually waits until Tuesday to announce the prior weeks POW. Last week the NCAA pre-empted the WCC by its earlier announcement that Mandy Bible of St. Mary's was the NPOW.

To elaborate on Xplaya's post: "Alexandra Oquendo, a 6-2 junior middle blocker for University of Georgia (10-5, 3-3 SEC), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week after leading the Bulldogs to a split in Southeastern Conference matches. Oquendo averaged 7.63 points, 6.62 kills, 1.12 blocks and 0.50 digs per game while hitting .544 on 90 swings. She was credited with 35 kills on 45 swings without an error versus Kentucky for a .778 attack percentage, which is the highest in NCAA Division I history with a minimum of 30 attacks. The 35 kills is the highest total in the SEC since 2002 and the most by any Bulldog since 1994. Oquendo added four blocks and four digs versus Kentucky. She started the week with 18 kills, five blocks and two aces versus then-eighth-ranked Florida. Oquendo increased her season kill average to 4.43 and her season attack percentage to .411. She is the third Georgia player to earn the national award. The Georgia head coach is Mary Buczek." Pretty impressive, OK! Interesting choice of words, though, that she earned the award "after leading the Bulldogs to a split in Southeastern Conference matches."

IB, you should've conferred with me, I would've told you that Oquendo was a shoe in for this award after her amazing Friday night.

Sorry about that Xplaya. I just was reading the thread on Final Four predictions and got ahead of myself.
