Has this happened to Hawaii, where a stellar athlete left for another school? The only one that I can recall is Adrienne Bradley (not sure if that is her name). For Adrienne I don't know if she was "stellar" because she did not play too much here, but I think she did well at Utah. Jen Saleamua I don't really consider a transfer since she did not play a game here. Other people who left, i.e. Sarah Chase, Kelli Cordray, Kee Williams (?), I don't remember them playing for a different school. Don't remember why Sarah Chase didn't come back, but it opened the way for Goods! Cordray graduated a year earlier and opted not to return for her senior season. Kee Williams played out her eligibility at Hawaii, so not sure what you mean by naming her Although she never really made a mark at Hawaii, Lori Garber went on to become a formidable MB and go to player at Texas Tech. Didn't she make All-Conference?

She had an injury plagued career. After an All-American season her freshman year at MB, she injured her knee and never was as mobile. She played on an off because of the injury until her senior season (94) when she was moved to the outside and just BOMBED the ball.

I have been a Wahine fan for a long time and remember a lot of things but my memory is no where near some of you here.

Actually, Kee was supposed to play for us in 1990, Karrie Trieschman's senior year. But she was a Prop. 48 student at that time and could not play her Freshman year. She began to play in 1991 as a MB. This was with Cheri Boyer at the helm, and was the year that Hawaii beat undefeated #1 ranked Stanford the first night in 3 and lost in five the second night. Kee was phenomenal those two nights and that is what I would say made her a First Team AA that year. The following year, 1992, she redshirted and we all remember what happened that year to Hawaii. She had metal bars in her shins and she was never the same, even on the outside. The only reason she went to the outside is because Angelica came along in 1993 and Sarah Chase sealed her middle spot in 1992, that carried over to 1993. She and Kenyatta Lovelace were battling for OH2 opposite Kristal Attwood in 1993. In 1994, she thought that her and Therese Crawford would be the 1,2 punch on the leftside, but along came Joselyn Robins to take that away. But Kee was NEVER the same after 1991. I could go on and on and on.

Didn't Sarah Chase leave the program because she wasn't keeping up with her studies, or something to that effect? That's what the media said. Imagine if we had Chase and Ljungquist together at the middle, what fun that would have been. Cheri Boyer was one of the best setter for UH imo. I loved watching her play as a kid.

I loved watching her play as a kid. Sarah Chase and Angellica Ljungquist did play together for two years for the Wahine in 93 and 94. But after 94 she got into academic trouble and wasn't able to continue. Regarding Kelli Cordray, she decided to leave the Wahine because she decided to get married after her junior year at UH. Don't forget about Veronica Lima leaving the Wahine program as well. She didn't transfer, but she did leave the Wahine after the 2000 season and left the Wahine with holes in many positions. Because that was the same time that Lily Kahumoku took the season off and Jenn Saleaumua ended up at Nebraska and Jennifer Fopma decided not to transfer to the Wahine. I also have to agree that Heather Bown has been the Wahine's top transfer so far. She definitely helped the Wahine become an elite program again after 97's mediocre year. Once she stepped in at middle the Wahine program turned around. It looks like Victoria Prince will be the next success story as a Wahine transfer.

Somehow this has turned into a Wahine expose about everyone that has ever left the program ....
I'd like to discuss transfer students THIS year that are making an impact. Did I catch all of them with my first post?

Is O. Pazo a transfer to Rice this year or last year? Certainly seems to make a big difference in their success ..

I saw her playing for Texas-Arlington at the NCAA 1st/2nd round at TAMU three years ago. But her twin, Rebecca, is listed as a senior on the Rice page, so either they came to America at different times or there was an NCAA redshirt requirement to be met.

What? No UCSB fans touting Waldowski? That was a good move for Santa Barbara.
Kara Gormsen transferred to Pacific from Arizona. We were happy to get her.

Olaya Pazo sat out last year per NCAA transfer rules... Really? The NCAA transfer rules allow for a one-time exception from sitting out one year (for all sports except men's basketball and football), provided that the original school provides a written release. It's unusual for a school not to grant a release, because there's really no benefit to NOT signing a release. Looking at Ms. Pazo's bio, it appears that she played at UTA for two seasons, sat out last season at Rice, and played this season. If UTA granted the release, there was no reason why she would have to sit out (provided she completed her soph academic year at UTA). This wasn't an interconference transfer, which may have its own set of transfer rules.
