Game 2 to the Gauchos 30-21. Juts one more Gauchos!
Gaucho Don reports that we were tending to have to set from the 10 foot line in game 1 with the resulting sets (for obvious reasons) not being great. In game two that got much better.
Thankfully, I am getting this info from GD, who is very trustworthy as opposed to a certian other "Gaucho" fan who seems to have a hard time with the truth.

Box score: ucsbgauchos.collegesports.com/sports/w-volley/stats/101504aaa.htmlNot sure why we went with just Ashley setting instead of the 6-2 as the preview story said we would... guess it was just an attempt to mislead the opposition? Anyway, can't believe Sandell hit .062 seemed better than that... looks like Garbisch might get more work as Hendrickson seems to have fallen out of favor. Wing looked good at times, but thought we contained her better than the stats indicate, statwise it looks like an average night for her?

yep tomorrow's when we get to try to break our recent trend of one good match then one bad one... Long Beach is just the team to provide the motivation for it too

Several things jump out at me. First, Kathy said in the Nexus Article that she was going with the 6-2 with both Bell and Dutro playing. It looks like she actually went 6-1 with Dutro.
Once again, Sandell has almost as many errors as kills, 11-8. That is just unacceptable. She had almost half of out hitting errors 8 of 18.
In contrast to Sandell, frosh Bethany Johansen had 8 kills to 2 errors and soph Jamie Garbisch had 9 kills with 2 errors. Nice job by both. Either Emily Hendrickson is injured or she has gone from starter to riding the pine. Too bad but if Garbisch keeps it up, she earns the PT.
Almost no blocking for UCSB as we were outblocked 8-4. Whatever happened to those 10+ blocking matchs from earlier in the season?
There's still stuff to work on but a sweep of UCI is a good win.
Next up, the beachless. This is a big one for both schools.

Attendance, 602! What's that all about Gaucho fans?/ Also looks like Kelli Wing had a pretty bad night, for her! I suspect that her arms and legs are beginning to wear out just a little!

602? Better fly in TSB.
How do they afford to keep the lights on in the Blunderdome. I'm bringing a flashlight tomorrow.

The Gauchos were able to dig many of Wings hits. When up against 2 blockers she was deflected often. The Gauchos let 3 balls drop -- scary -- severing has improved big time.

Well I would have made it 603, but I am still in a ping pong match trying to get reinstated. It doesn't look like I'll be there tomorrow which really stinks. But I am still putting up the fight. I am glad to see that we beat UCI, now to take it to the beach(less). Anyone step in any tar lately?

Have you tried pretending it's already Halloween and wearing a mask? In all seriousness, why bot wear a sweatshirt with a big hood or something like that, and just sneak in? (Or have they posted your picture all over the TDome?)

Kelly Wing did have a terrible night. She looked like she was in a great deal of pain, with her leg wrapped and a really bad limp whenever she took a couple steps or more. If a horse was limping the way she was, the owner might consider putting it down. Yet somehow, she was still able to get some kills, often times flying from the back row to do it. She really is a pretty amazing athlete. Hope her leg heals.
