Why is this always played in Alabama, of all places? Was North Dakota unavailable? Do they draw many fans there? It seems like a natural for So Cal, the hotbed of beach volleyball. Alabama has beautiful beaches too.

Alabama has beautiful beaches too. The beach at Gulf Shores is excellent, as is the general setup of the tournament. I'm all in favor of a SoCal venue, but I completely understand why Gulf Shores is so attractive to the AVCA/NCAA.

I have to say I really like the NCAA stream of this, where I can watch any of the courts I want.

As with UCLA - Stetson, looks like Georgia State- Arizona has come down to a 3rd set in #4 pairs to decide the overall winner. Georgia State up 6-4 right now.

So does Arizona play UCLA tomorrow or does it split up so they get matched against the losers of FSU/Hawaii and USC/Pepp?

So does Arizona play UCLA tomorrow or does it split up so they get matched against the losers of FSU/Hawaii and USC/Pepp? Based on the bracket, looks like the later option. Note- Looks like fans now have an option of continuing to watch the NCAA stream, or it's now also being televised (with more camera angles and, of course, commentary) on TRU TV.

Makes sense, the NCAA hadn't updated the Arizona entry on the bracket when I checked last. UCLA definitely hasn't looked good, especially the #2/3 slots. Going 0-4 today and zero sets won between those two courts.

In their 1st action against FSU, Hawaii gets 1st set wins in # 3 and 5 pairs, with both close (2 point) sets.

FSU gets the set 1 win in #2 pairs, while I believe HI grabs the advantage with 1st set wins in #1 and 4 pairs, so are up a set in 4 of the 5 matches overall. (CORRECTION- FSU won #4 pairs.)

And, in 2 tight sets, the Rainbows also win #3 pairs. Now up 2-0.

And, it's going to all be up to a 3rd set in Pair #1's (just beginning), as FSU earns 2 set sweeps in #2 & 4 pairs.
