Light wouldn't have seen much play her first two years with Iosia a junior for the 2018 season, unless Light redshirted a year and then being a backup for Iosia's senior year. Maafala would be the backup setter for Iosia this coming Fall. RAMS knows her really well being Maafala was the setter for RAMS club team. We'll see how good a setter recruiter RAMS is with her reputation as one of the best setter coaches around.

Is it possible that Light does not fit what Robyn wants? I mean...thru out the history of UH women Vball, UH tend to favor a more quicker, shorter, and athletic type of setter. I try to find any kind of video on Liliana but was unable too so I don't know if she fits that athletic type.
The "taller" setter does not seems to work out well for UH. Kendra these past few years never really able to crack the lineup. In the past, Jen Carey got beat out by Margaret Vakasausau.
Kanoe....Margaret.... Stephanie Brandt....Danny Mafua..Mita Uiato....Taylor Higgins...now Norene. All under 6ft but all are very athletic and quick.
Maybe there are setters here in the state that Robyn is looking at that is a better fit.
Teanna Adams Kaonohi maybe???

Jenna from Maryknoll also a really good one. Both are 2018 recruits. Lexis Akeo along with these two are probably the top three setters for 2018 and 19 classes.

I think she is hard-nosed but not necessarily in a bad way. I think the girls that remain like her and will work hard for her. I think she is letting players know what she expects and rewarding their efforts. Unfortunately, I think it didn't work out so well with Smith (It sounds like the consensus with fans is that they appreciated Smith). Time will tell if the coaching decisions being made will work out. I hope they do! I'm curious how the conversation between Smith and RAMS went, which led to Smith leaving. I just can't imagine RAMS telling Smith "Anderson and Guinasso will be the top 2 DS next season even though Shoji and Hall thought you were ahead of them." Perhaps Smith just wanted to be closer to home. I'm finding it hard to believe that she just couldn't handle RAMS' coaching style or the possibility that she may not be the top DS this season. Perhaps Smith was asked to RS and didn't want to?

I wonder how Robyn feels about Hall's recruiting? I don't want to bag on Liliana Light cause she could turn out to be an all American and make us regret losing her but she is not an elite level setter right now.. According to MaxPrep, she is ranked 400 something in her class nationally and 69th in California. She has no hudl or highlights for us to see and make any kind of judgement on her.
How is Ah Mow supposed to judge her? Makes me wonder if Hall recruited her due to being Alexis Light's sister and not based on her talent. With tons of talented setters locally, how come Hall cannot get one to sign with UH? Losing out on Adora Anae, Alohi Robins, and Kan kind of suck. UH need to do a better job getting the local girls to stay. Hope Robyn will change that. Even though girls like Teana Adams Kaonohi committed to KState or Akeo to Pitt.....UH still have a chance to turn them around Got to keep the good local girls home!

I love Guinasso and Anderson, but I honestly think Smith is better than Kahakai and should have been the libero this season.

Has there been any word on who Ah Mow's assistants will be? Is she keeping Hall and Baxter or bringing in her own?

Does anyone know or remember if Emma Smith was on a Beach Volleyball scholarship?
And just a thought... Perhaps her departure had more to do with what may have gone on on the Beach Volleyball side rather than on the Indoor Volleyball side?

Perhaps her departure had more to do with what may have gone on on the Beach Volleyball side rather than on the Indoor Volleyball side? I agree that her departure could have more to do with beach than indoor, but it's not possible for her to have been on a beach scholarship and also played indoor. The NCAA has this rule to prevent coaches from using beach scholarships to get around the 12-person indoor limit. Same rule applies to players who play both basketball and indoor VB; if they want to play both, their scholarship has to come from basketball.
