Thoughts on the Pairs championship extending the length of the tournament from 3 days to 6 days? I call BS.
How long did the event last when it was run by the AVCA and they ran both team and pairs championship?
Pac12 championship lasted 4 days including both pairs and team competition. And on only 3 courts!

How long did the event last when it was run by the AVCA and they ran both team and pairs championship? Pac12 championship lasted 4 days including both pairs and team competition. And on only 3 courts! The AVCA national championships - team and pairs - ran three days total. And it ran smoothly. Now that the team championship field has been expanded, you'd have to add in one additional day., for a total of four. Seriously, any competent CBVA tournament director could make a team/pairs championship work in that timeframe. And yes, adding a pairs competition is going to increase the NCAA's budget, but that cost would be pretty much limited to paying travel expenses for maybe eight pairs who aren't already in Gulf Shores for the team event. And an extra day's pay for refs. Also, Nina needs to hang it up. She's just phoning it in these days.

Yeah, they need to get the pairs stuff in order. I'm not in favor of a pairs fall season, but you could definitely squeeze in a single elimination pairs tourney pretty easily. Let's say you put the #1 pairs of the 8 qualified teams in automatically, and then another 8 wildcard teams. This could be a mix of #2 teams from the qualified 8 and other #1 teams non-qualified. (You can futz with the exact mix here, but you can see what I'm getting at).
