Portland and Gonzaga play their final 2017 volleyball matches today at 4:00 pm Pacific. "Before the match, redshirt senior Alyse Whitaker will be honored as the Zags' lone senior on Senior Day." Video StreamGametrackerGonzaga is currently 8-9 in conference, and has had a 7-match losing streak, after starting conference play at sizzling 5-0. In their last match (a 5-set loss to St. Mary's), Frosh OH Sarah Penner had 22 kills, hitting .462. She leads Gonzaga with 2.49 kills/set, but hits .151 on the season. The Zags are a very young team. Portland is currently 6-11 and has had one win in their last 6 matches after starting the conference strong at 4-2. This match marks the end of the college careers for seniors Troutman, Savoca and Robinson. Troutman transferred to Portland as a sophomore after a year at Oregon State, and has been a huge part of Portland's success over the past three seasons. She is currently second in the conference with 4.24 kills/set and is hitting .204 for the season. The last time the two teams met in Portland, Gonzaga came out with a 5-set win (of course). Gonzaga has had 10 5-set matches this season.

Don't follow WCCVB very much; I saw BYU vs. UH here in Hawai'i in non-conference play awhile back. Thought they were good; just realized now HOW Good they are! Good for them

Two WCC teams in the top-10 in the Coaches Poll this week!
Thanks to so many Pac-12 and B1G teams beating up on each other, BYU has moved up to #7 in this week's coaches poll, and San Diego is up to #9.
Unfortunately, the RPI still has BYU at 18 and San Diego at 20.

Gonzaga snapped their losing streak to beat Portland in (of course) 5 sets today. Set scores 25-17, 21-25, 20-25, 25-22, 15-12. Gonzaga finishes the season at 9-9 and Portland is 6-12.
Freshman OH Sarah Penner led Gonzaga again with 26 kills hitting .328. Freshman Chapin Gray had 14 kills, hitting .324. Troutman led Portland with 24 kills, hitting .257. Rs Freshman MB Katie Barker had 15 kills, hitting .636 for Portland.
Hannah Troutman has played her final match, but the three freshman should have great careers ahead of them.

Pepperdine shocked San Diego with a 25-15 first set win. San Diego is up 9-6 in the second set, currently hitting only .083 for the match. Pepperdine has 5 blocks to USD’s 3 and is hitting .310. It looks like Dyer is setting a 5-1 for Pepperdine so far.
BYU has set point at 24-19 first set over LMU. Edit: first set 25-19 to BYU. Jones-Perry is 5/0/11.

San Diego took set 3 over Pepperdine 25-19 to lead 2-1. However still hitting only .162 for the match to Pepperdine’s .234 is concerning. Kennedy and Fuller both hitting .000 after 3 sets and Wiblin negative. Picha has 11 kills hitting ..588
BYU is up 15-10 over LMU in set 3 and looking for the sweep.

Congrats to BYU and San Diego on being co-champions. Both could be underdogs in the tournament, hopefully upset the Pac-12 teams they will most likely face in the subregionals.
