These are two very reliable sources on the possibility of an "event" in Long Beach this year: Heard on pretty good authority that the city of LB has already approved a permit for 5 days in the middle of July for a big vb event at the WSOBV venue. Keeping the faith that there will soon be an upcoming announcement of some kind of 4 Star or 3 Star FIVB event that will be held during that time. Yeah, don't write off LB. There will be an event. I protect my sources, but solid guys with this data...hope it was ok to post... That's great news, would have been nice to have another FIVB Major/Grand Slam, but a 3 or 4 star is still great after having nothing on the original schedule.

After getting "used" to the World Series of Beach Volleyball there with "all it entails", wonder what to expect from a 3 or 4 star event (I know NOTHING about those!)...Hmmm....how to plan a trip...

Middle of July? There is a 5-star July 4-9, and a 4-star July 19-23. That leaves July 12-16, which has no AVP conflict, either.
And just realized the Gstaad 5-star Major conflicts with the AVP San Francisco.

There is already two Big AVP events that won't have their biggest stars there due to 5 star FIVB tournies.....NYC in June (Rome same time) & San Fran (Gstaad) July or August....The Olympians won't miss those two 5 stars to play on AVP.....I guess there are only so many weekends in the summer though....
