www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/sports/9571742.htmFor those in Florida, here's a translation of some of the terms in the article: "USF" = University of San Francisco (not University of South Florida) "Bay Area" = San Francisco Bay Area (not Tampa Bay)Now that I've cleared that up, the article doesn't have much mention of Cal. However - the same author has written several articles on the Mia Jerkov situation in the past week, so he probably didn't have much to add.

Speaking of the Bay Area as a Mecca for VB, where can I find information on VB matches scheduled for Div 1 and High School matches? Does the San Jose Mercury paper publish this info?
I will be in the Bay area in October and would like to catch a few matches while there.
Thanks!

The Mercury News does a pretty mediocre job of previewing stuff, especially high school stuff. They will show calendar listings for college matches, but it's sporadic, and they list high school schedules, but a lot of schools never submit a schedule. So it ends up being not so reliable.
For college matches, check out gostanford.com, calbears.com, santaclarabroncos.com, sjsuspartans.com, usfdons.com, etc. For high schools, the best chance to see some of the top teams are the Mitty Tournament Oct. 1-2 and the Presentation Tournament Oct. 23. If you know the dates you'll be here, I can check on some other high school possibilities, like regular-season WCAL, SCVAL, BVAL, TCAL, etc. matches.

That surprises me. www.richkern.com/

not only can you enjoy watching some good high school and college volleyball in the area, you can technically play open gym volleyball every single night here! I have lived in a few cities around the country ... this is the only place you can get yourself on the court and play some good ball everyday! Now, this is another showing of the Bay Area being the Mecca for volleyball. If you want to play, Nutter, here is the link to some of the open gyms in the area. www.volleyball.org/bay_area/baopengyms.pdf
