He visited with Ed about not only hitting the beach, but his new book, the Rio Olympics, problems with volleyball and the AVP contract situation. volleyballmag.com/priddy042717/

Thanks for all these tremendous efforts to inform and promote Beach Volleyball ,
I like his different and more professional perspective to entertaining the fans and customer centric not player centric ideals.
The top men beach players may have shunned him but they may be battling him for the prize money.
A new comer but supporting the right camp , imho.

I think that everyone should be supporting the same camp..That camp being USA Beach Volleyball...whether it's the AVP, NVL, AVP Next, etc...we should be supporting all of this!! Why with both leagues losing so much money, as stated many time, can't put egos aside & work together for the good of the game? It seems to me that the NVL has been more receptive to that in the past & present than the AVP has. Why is that? I think every player wants the game to get to the next level, it's just there's differences of opinions on which way to get there. It's leaving us fans outside looking in shaking our heads thinking this looks real easy to fix. I do believe that sponsorships & mainstream media is an important part to growing this sport at the present time. Time will absolutely tell! Looking forward to a great summer of beach VB action in the US & FIVB....

Sadly, as history shows, competing leagues only tend to merge, or heck even work together, only when their is clear, undisputed, no doubt possible tangible benefits. I think many would argue that point now, but I don't think either the AVP or NVL or anywhere close to that point. Look at it from the AVP's perspective: despite a few *cough cough* problems over the years, the fact of the matter is that the league is still around, and that in and of itself is a minor miracle. Yet other beach volleyball leagues have come and gone. As for the NVL, well after all the recent news it may see itself as a sort of trailblazer right now. So we have a NFL/ALF and NHL/WHA scenario in the sense that both leagues see themselves as the established power/the new and improved newcomer: both see themselves as the future. Overall, a really insightful interview. It seems like the problem really isn't the sport: its the mindset behind it, from a marketing/business perspective. Maybe it will change in the future. Anyways, some great beach action coming up as you said, both in AVP, NVL, and FIVB
