ANAHEIM - The third event of the AAU Triple Crown is the AAU Best of the Beach presented by Kauai Bikini on July 26-27 in Hermosa Beach, CA in the Girls 16:U and 14:U Division. In addition to the AAU National Championships and West Coast AAU Junior Olympic Games, the AAU Best of the Beach (14/16) and AAU Pan Pacific Championship (18) make up the AAU Triple Crown. Gold medalists from the AAU Southern Pacific Series events, AAU Metro Beach Series Champions, AAU National Championships and the West Coast AAU Junior Olympic Games. Long considered one of the most competitive events, the tournament has drawn the top teams over the past several years since the event began in 2007 in Beverly Hills, CA with all teams outfitted in uniforms originally sponsored by VB Rags and features a competitive match play format with officials.
The equivalent event in the Girls 18:U Division is the AAU Pan Pacific Championship in Waikiki, Hawaii on July 8-9, 2017. The only triple crown winners are Zana Muno (Hermosa Beach, CA) which won the AAU Nationals, West Coast AAU Junior Olympic Games and Best of the Beach in the same season with different partners in the 16:U Division in 2012, in addition to partners Lindsey Sparks (Huntington Beach, CA) and Abby Van Winkle (Coto de Caza, CA) which won the AAU Nationals, West Coast AAU Junior Olympic Games and AAU Best of the Beach in the same season in the 14:U Division in 2014.
