Newcombe was awful, but Hooker was not great either only 7/28 (28%).

Newcombe was awful, but Hooker was not great either only 7/28 (28%). It gets worse when we consider that they are playing with what many consider to be one of the best active brazilian setters (Macris Carneiro)

Simone Lee got the match point in her recent match w Imoco Volley. She subbed in for Bricio at the very end of the match when it was clear they were going to win anyway.

Newcombe was awful, but Hooker was not great either only 7/28 (28%). They bounced back this round, although against what people may consider a weaker team (I don't). "Minas‘ American duo bounced back from their horrible performance a few days ago against Barueri. Destinee Hooker led her team in scoring against Bauru with 23 points on 20/33 (61%) hitting, including 1 block and 2 aces. Her teammate Sonja Newcombe scored 9 points on 7/14 hitting, including two aces. Together they combined for 32 points on 27/47 (57%) hitting, 4 aces and 2 blocks in three quick sets of play. Meanwhile, Barueri‘s Carli Lloyd led the team to its first victory under her command, as she was awarded the match’s MVP award. Nicole Fawcett did not dress up for Uberlândia‘s game against Brasília." volleymob.com/bra-camponesa-minas-nets-5th-straight-3-0-win-sl-round-16-recap/

Maybe it has been discussed, but Megan Easy was injured early in the season.... apparently she is out for the rest of the season. Her team has taken in Simone Lee as a substitute.
With Easy's injury it made way for Bricio to get on the floor and shine! She has been playing so well this season. I really think Conegliano has a shot at winning the Champion's league this season. They have such a diverse and well balanced offense.

A1 is so balanced this year...Novara, Scandicci and even UYBA have a real shot at the title also in my opinion Easy had an achilles tear...it's very serious....there is a video on youtube

They have such a diverse and well balanced offense. Bricio was already a starter for Conegliano last season and she won a couple of tournament MVPs before she came down with an illness that sidelined her for a few weeks and a foot injury during the postseason. With her dynamic play especially her serve and backrow attack, she was already slated to be a starting OH this season. She was away with her Mexican national team when the Italian season started, and Megan Easy and Kim Hill started the season as the starting OHs. It could be that with three good OHs, the club was planning on rotating them, with Cella providing some relief and backrow support. Last year, when Bricio went down, Conegliano was caught short handed, forcing Fawcett and Ortolani to rotate between playing Opp and OH.
