Maybe it has been discussed, but Megan Easy was injured early in the season.... apparently she is out for the rest of the season. Her team has taken in Simone Lee as a substitute. With Easy's injury it made way for Bricio to get on the floor and shine! She has been playing so well this season. I really think Conegliano has a shot at winning the Champion's league this season. They have such a diverse and well balanced offense. Bricio was already a starter for Conegliano last season and she won a couple of tournament MVPs before she came down with an illness that sidelined her for a few weeks and a foot injury during the postseason. With her dynamic play especially her serve and backrow attack, she was already slated to be a starting OH this season. She was away with her Mexican national team when the Italian season started, and Megan Easy and Kim Hill started the season as the starting OHs. It could be that with three good OHs, the club was planning on rotating them, with Cella providing some relief and backrow support. Last year, when Bricio went down, Conegliano was caught short handed, forcing Fawcett and Ortolani to rotate between playing Opp and OH. Thanks for the clarifications. I lose track when some of these players graduate from college. I had in my head that this Bricio's first season playing professionally. So this season ends her two year commitment. I would expect a good pay jump for where ever she goes next. Kill Hill's passing is just about the only exploitable weakness with Conegliano. Not sure if you got to watch the recent fenerbahce match. They were targeting Hill on serve received pretty hard. Conegliano did not play well in the first two games, but they showed their true talent in the final three games. Robin de Kruijf is one of the most fun middles to watch play.

( But I also heard Larson already renewed with Vitra, so I don`t know what`s true and what`s not). Robinson is not showing anything special and she`s just a role player, Bricio/Zhu duo would be interesting.

Hill and Robinson are great, but with the foreigner limit, either Rasic, Zhu, or Sloetjes would have to sit for them to play. That's not going to happen. If Conegliano keeps up their success, I wouldn't be surprised if Bricio stayed there. I can't think of many teams that could give her a better shot at success. Like you mentioned, Maybe Eczacibasi or Vakifbank, but they both have so many foreigners already.

Newcombe was awful, but Hooker was not great either only 7/28 (28%). They bounced back this round, although against what people may consider a weaker team (I don't). "Minas‘ American duo bounced back from their horrible performance a few days ago against Barueri. Destinee Hooker led her team in scoring against Bauru with 23 points on 20/33 (61%) hitting, including 1 block and 2 aces. Her teammate Sonja Newcombe scored 9 points on 7/14 hitting, including two aces. Together they combined for 32 points on 27/47 (57%) hitting, 4 aces and 2 blocks in three quick sets of play. Meanwhile, Barueri‘s Carli Lloyd led the team to its first victory under her command, as she was awarded the match’s MVP award. Nicole Fawcett did not dress up for Uberlândia‘s game against Brasília." volleymob.com/bra-camponesa-minas-nets-5th-straight-3-0-win-sl-round-16-recap/Why is Paula Pequeno not playing? Is she injured?

Nikki Taylor signed with Lardini Filottrano (the team is the last one in classification with few chances to survive in the league). Nikki is out of competitive volley for a year now and her first experience- under the current circumstances- will be a tough one. Kimberly Gutierrez (libero Arizona) signed with Generika (PHI) Marijeta Runjic after UTSA signed her first contract in Hungary (Ujpest the name of the team) Brooke Kranda of Michigan State signed in Foton Philippines

The list doesn't include Japan and Korea (and if someone could add statistics from both countries would be great). Two players are from NCAA's Div II and III and that's impressive. Kiera Holst gave an interview in Greece and said : "in US if you are hitting strong you are ok. In Europe are focusing more on defence and that's a problem for players from NCAA".

^^^ this is amazing. If I recall correctly, Denise Belcher spent a year at UF before transferring to USF. I'm glad she's found success! All these ladies have so much talent and potential...Sometimes you just gotta find where you fit!

I notice that Carlini did not start in her last match for Scandici but did sub in each game. If this is not injury related it is not a good sign for her as she has been regularly criticized on European forums for her lack of creativity and setting to her middles. Now that teams are scouting her has this become a problem? I know she is highly touted in the US but it seems she should be showing more in the pro leagues as a future NT starter.

Yes, she did not start today against Novara and did not start last week against Pesaro as well. I don`t know if is injury related as I did not hear anything. I wish volleyball teams would provide more info on players injury stats like other sports does. A lot of times a volleyball player gets injured and we don`t even know and when we know we just don`t get any updates.

She lost her starting position two weeks ago during the match Scandicci v.s. Filottrano. Scandicci lost the first set, and then Lauren was substituted out during the second set. She didn't come back in the following two sets and her team won by 3-1. I am worried as a fan of her. I hope she can keep improving, since success in college doesn't necessarily apply to success in pro league or NT.

Didn't watch too much of Carlini in college (except maybe playoffs) - was she one dimensional (or better, did she have predictable setting patterns) while at Wisconsin? I wouldn't have thought setting middles would be a weakness of hers.
Although I love the play of Carli Lloyd, I would have thought maybe Carlini could be a great prospect with her size ... but then at preliminary stuff (like Pan Ams) it would seem Hancock performed better.

I was following Carlini's matches in Italy whenever there there are videos available. Over time, her sets became predictable and other teams where able to predict her sets. Plus there are always setting problems with her middles even with Adenizia. Months have passed and it seems that she wasn't able to rectify it. Her use of middles are very low as a matter of fact. Her connection with Arrighetti is non-existent up to this point. With De Lulio as setter, Arrighetti isgetting more sets and actually scoring. Even her sets to the open hitters are also questionable, she sometimes gives the ball very near to the net and the attackers have to adjust and it is always scary to look at. She lost the starting position not because of injury but because of inconsistency and predictability. If this will translate to NT then USA is doomed because our middles are our most potent attackers.
Hancock started bad but she manages to turn the tide. She's decent now as complaints from European fans have stopped. She's also the best server in the league in terms of aces per set and just behind 2 points from total ace leader.

The way I remember Carlini in college is that she had a very good connection with Thompson and Nelson. They had good hitting percentages and were an effective part of the offense. She was predictable to a degree; she didn't have as many options as, say, Seliger-Swenson in 2015-2016 or Hunter, which contributes to predictability. However, professional ball is a different animal.
