Saw on Reid's IG page he's partnering with Maddison McKibbin for Austin, wonder who Riley's playing with, Reid's Huntington partner? Can't see huge success from these two as IMO Riley is the more talented MCK bro though Maddison clearly has the size advantage.

Riley broke his left hand. Gonna be out a month or two.

Is this just an FIVB weekend thing or did Chaim give up on Reid that quickly?

Chaim is playing Rio with Saxton. Last time they were there they won bronze. I wouldn't expect every AVP stop to be as strong as Huntington. It just happened to be on an open weekend and right before the 4 and 5 star events.

Excellent point, Huntington was STACKED, qualifier was crazy tough with that field.

BTW, given the watered down field in Austin, could these two skip qualies with Maddy's points?

I totally get it, Priddy is a curiosity draw, had biggest crowds at qualies @ Huntington. Ed & Eric played some inspired ball but if they're roughly even, I'd rather see Priddy guaranteed in than Ed for casual vball fan.

Not sure I get it ether. While I understand Reid getting in Ed has played avp for like 17 years I think and been a main draw player and still good enough to be a main draw player. I think they should respect that. I guess now a days respect doesn't matter really.

I get it, and wish it was used more often. More in line with the FIVB, the host should get use of a WC within reason. Granted, it'd hurt less in a 24 or 32 team draw.

Agreed, they should use the WC more often. I remember years and years ago on the Northeast the AVP gave the WC to a team that won a ton of local events. For the main draw, they were actually seeded below the teams that made it through the quali. They were one-two-bbq after playing the #1 and #16 seeds, but they had the crowds and some press (good for AVP). Is anyone watching the 1 vs. 32 or 1 vs. 16 game if it is some team that traveled for the quali not named Dana? Probably not.
Agreed that the WC hurts a bit more in the small draw for the guys who get bumped, but for the greater good of the tour, probably needs to happen more.
