Yeah true. But we are talking about beating day and Britt not the world. Has she ever lost to them? We have to agree she's better than them 2 and her partner is not as good as them so I see a tight match. Also knowing Kerri she has Nicole working out harder than ever now if she's really serious about playing with Nicole for a while. Will see.

Yes...I do agree with you that Kerri herself is a much better individual player than either Emily or Britt, but she will need some help. I agree with a lot other people that she should have gone with a younger partner, maybe coming out of college (no she didn't get Hughes) but someone that was hungry to learn from one of the best, etc.

Day/Hochevar are skipping the event, They have a CQ match against Kerri/Nicole for the 5 star Porec major. Probably the right move, but they would pretty much be a finalist at worst here. Any fallout if Day/Hochevar win??? Flint and Larsen are registered for this AND the FIVB 2 star in China this weekend. Where they just won the previous stop on Sunday. This could cause the seeding to slip 1 if they stay in China. Dowdy/Pollock are also on the China list (not reg. for AVP). I thought Kerri got a wild card to Porec? Or maybe that was Gstaad? It sucks that April is out. Is Nick still going? I'd say Larsen/Flint would have a good shot at winning either Seattle or China (where Juliana is the only one I would favor by a lot over her) but thats a hell of a trip for a 50k payout when there is a 75k event a 90 minute plane ride away.
I wish Flint/Larsen would break up. I'd love to see Larsen split block with Kerri, or try to find some other defender - pickings are slim out there. Just checked, Larsen/Flint are no longer reg. for the FIVB in China, just Pollock/Dowdy.

You know what team had a pretty good NYC? Ledoux / McGuire, They beat Claes/Hughes Lost in 3 to DiCello / Stockman and Day / Hochevar In fact, every match they played in NYC went 3, that's adding a bunch of extra games! (5 game 3s!)

I'm not a Kerri fan but I think she bears them. She's just really good and I saw her a few weeks back and she was in crazy good shape!! I am a Kerri fan, but a realistic one. I def. see from recent pics out there on Social Media that she might just be in the best shape of her life. All I'm saying is practicing in Manhatten beach for the last few months against college girls is much different than competing on the world stage with a partner that hasn't played internationally since 2012? Not sure the exact year, but I think I'm close. I'm just glad she's jumping back into the waters again. The sharks are waiting though... No 38 year old BVB athlete with five kids and nine shoulder surgeries is in the best shape of their life. Nature just doesn't work that way. That said, I think she likely beats Brit/Emily 8 times out of 10 with Nicole and she is still far superior to both at almost every skill. Healthy and playing left side, Kerri is still top 5 in the world, and neither Brittany nor Emily is top 30 That doesn't make it fair she has to play though, and if you figure she has an 80% chance to advance from each round of the qualifier because of Nicole

I haven't seen her in better shape in her 16+ years on the beach as she looks right now.

She may have better cardio and strength, but like Guest2 said, those surgeries and age take a way from flexibility, Quickness and arm speed/whip.

My point is she works extremely hard at being in the best possible shape when she steps on the sand for a match. At 38 after 4 Olympic medals, 3 kids & 5 shoulder surgeries and still having the motivation for more is pretty impressive. Can't put too many athletes in this category.

Ricardo, Hyden, Reid, Phil, Nick, Casey, Jake, it seems like half the field at the last men's AVP was roughly the same age as Kerri or older. EY, Holly, Linda Hanley, Kessey, Dianne Denechochea, Liz, Fontana all played until they were Kerri's age or older. Stoklos, Dodd, I could go on. Not one to pass up an opportunity to mock Kerri, the season is halfway over and she has played once, hard to credit her with special motivation when she only turns out for huge money events and even those not always.

Question comes out of left field and I apologize, but is there a reason why all these fields are 16 team entries and not more? Will AVP ever grow to more entries?

With 16 teams per gender, you can get by with only four courts and fewer referees. In addition, the top players probably prefer it because it means fewer games to play. From a spectator standpoint, I don't like it because it means more people crowded around fewer courts.

Just checked the points they got (400 team) are more than 3rd place at The Hauge got. (380 team).
