entry list: avp.com/event/san-francisco-open/2017-avp-san-francisco-open/Just thought I'd start this early, The following Men's teams will not be there, opting for FIVB: Main Draw BRUNNER/PATTERSON DALHAUSSER/LUCENA GIBB/CRABB TA. ROSENTHAL/CRABB TR. Qualifier HYDEN/DOHERTY Canada Schalk, Chaim So, Billy and Slick are #1 seed, followed by Mayer/Casebeer (If Hyden/Doherty don't make MD they will be 2nd). The 3rd seed would have been Zaun/Ed, now it's Priddy/Ed. After that, it's going to be a mess depending on who plays with whom. Zaun is in the driver seat, followed by Maddison McK. (be cool if Zaun picked up Ricardo, but he's pretty far down the points list still) Brunsting and Frishman may be the happiest to not face an Olympian in the Q. They'll be MD. Big tournament for players like Drost, Tramblie, Loomis, Bombgrens, etc.. Getting into the MD for Manhattan and Chicago are up for grabs, could also set up next year with double points for the last 2 tournaments. Main Draw HUGHES/CLAES ROSS/FENDRICK SUMMER/SWEAT WALSH JENNINGS/BRANAGH Canada Pavan, Sarah Counrty Quota to play in the Q (at least the loser will play AVP, if Q team doesn't get in, I'd assume they would too) HOCHEVAR/DAY STOCKMAN/DICELLO Flint/Larsen will be #1, followed by Fopma/Reeves and Urango/Bensend unless one of the CQ teams make it back, which ever will be the 2nd seed. A bunch of women's teams will also be trying to get out of the Qs and get the Double point guarantee in the Main draws for the last 2 tournaments too.

The Bomgrens are also not going to be in San Francisco as they will be playing at Waupaca. Big mistake for them as they have went 0-2 the last two tournaments and are in jeopardy of being back in the qualifiers. They could really benefit from playing in a watered down tournament.

Oh, big yikes for them. I think in MB they take 16 MD, plus 8 Q and then the AVPNEXT teams so they may still be in the top 16 MD teams.

Is it really a benefit? It's only teams way ahead of them in points that are gone.

Also, via - volleyballmag.com/mewhirter062717/ Zaun and Rat are back together, and Priddy is playing with Ricardo! Liking the Priddy/Ricardo match up for this.

Zaun/Ed back together?!? Good, they belong together for remainder of season, recalibrate then. Like Priddy/Santos too, no excuses for Reid on this, they should be able to contend for title on paper at least tho Billy/Slick clear, clear faves.

It's been hard to watch six guys I like change teams, and every one of them went into a team that was weaker than the one he left -- even if it was just three teams swapping around.

Does it ever work when one guy dumps another then goes right back after a bad event?

It sounds like Ed did the dumping which I thought was other way around, either way, best together at this junction.

The article had quotes from both that made it sound like Zaun did. Doesn't matter. Will be interesting if they can keep their success going, in the loaded fields anyways.

I was talking about three teams up there, who were 5th, 7th and 9th in New York, then swapped partners around and got a 7th and two 13ths for their trouble. Seems pretty easy to assume that if the 5th-place guys get back together, they'll both do better than they would have done separately. There's the "terrible draw" factor at work here, but if they'd asked me I'd have told 'em to go for it.

I think Eric's attitude needs to change. He gets way to emotional and mad when he don't need to. That might have a effect on his partners kinda like burik etc

He's intense, no doubt about it, but once he's learned to focus that into on-court aggression, mama-look-out! I believe Ed was a Psych major in college, could be he's the right person at the right time, to give EZ the bit of polish that will make him what he's got the potential to become.

What Zaun needs is a partner that can side out. His hitting percentage in Seattle was 600 and he went 0-2. I looked at the stats from this year and ALL OF LAST YEAR and no other defender has hit 600 throughout a full tournament even once. He also sets butter and was ranked first in aces in Seattle. The kid has a reason to be frustrated.

Yep, he's a monster in the making but the right partner hasn't revealed himself just yet, first season, play with Ed, learn, go after long-term partner like Tri after season.
