Agreed but so should have Placek, that's a bad, bad loss no matter how you spin it.

They're the real deal and absolutely flustered & beat some very experienced, capable players. You could literally see the lump in Motter & Placek's throats as they straight up chocked at the idea of losing to these kids and hit out 5 straight points on an open net to start the 3rd game 0-5. That said, Avery & Chase absolutely throttled them, made them look like the kids they are. Compete mismatch as bad as I've seen in main draw. And Brunsting and Samuels, who would have lost under FIVB rules? I think that second loss was a mix of being overwhelmed by a far superior team and the mental stress of competing at a much higher level than ever before. The lefty is a future full time pro for sure and I think he is the 15 year old. He banged some balls and played solid volleyball. It was a bad mismatch to be sure but I have seen a lot worse in MDs. (Olson and Samuels lost 13,9 in San Fran, Phil/Nick beat the Mckibbins 21-6 this year, and there are a few similar scores every year in Manhattan)

Miles Partain is playing in the USAV HP Beach Championships @ Hermosa this week. Pool play was today and bracket starts tomorrow morning through Wednesday. The women's side includes some high-level recruits. Might be worth stopping by if you're in the South Bay... usav.bracketpal.com/tournament/7
