We're doing something fun for today, one day before National Signing Day:
Franchise Prep Players: The 2017 Mock Draft!
I will ask 20-25 active college coaches, given pre-determined draft slots, this question:
You are starting a team from scratch and can choose anyone currently playing in the high school ranks today, domestically or internationally. You only have that player for four years, however.
Who do you choose and why? Pick the player who has the most potential to be a franchise player when it’s her time to go to college.
The draft is slated to begin at 1 p.m. PST with 15 minutes between picks.

Who are the coaches? It’s tuesday, aren’t most teams scouting and training for the upcoming week?

Are the coaches really going to consider the implications of only getting 4 years starting today? For example, as good of a prospect as Landfair is, why would you select her knowing she hits the college court at 16 and is gone at 19?

"Pick the player who has the most potential to be a franchise player when it’s her time to go to college." That's what I get for skimming. Additional question: "How closely do these coaches follow international high schools?" Most of the list should probably consist of international high schoolers who are already in their country's national team pipeline. At least from all the countries that matter in volleyball.

I suspect there will be a couple of international players picked

Since it's a draft and you aren't gonna get "all" the players one would expect, these are the players I'd probably shoot for
S- Allison (Auburn 2018) or Podraza (Maryland 2019)...I'd settle for Brown (Illinois 2018) MB- Foreman (LSU 2018), Rubright (Minnesota 2019), Horin (USC 2019), Phillips (Texas 2019), Smith (2020), Skinner (2020) OH- Cox (UNC 2018)/ Owes (USC 2019)/ Nalls (TCU 2019) are players I might try for as my L1's and Rollins (2018) Stumler (2018) Meuth (Notre Dame 2019) maybe Wagoner (Hawaii 2019) as my L2's OPP-Grimmer (2019), Lewis (Oregon 2019), these two would be likely to go early as they are among the top recruits in the 2019 class....I'd probably look at converting a 2018 MB to OPP....I hear great things about Gros (MSU 2018) L- Miller (2018), Murr (2019) or Murphy (2019)
unnecessary now that I read what this list actually is

EXACTLY....IMO there would be far more to this draft, it if was taken seriously, than just picking the best prospect, regardless of class. It should be littered with 2018 and 2019 players. unnecessary now that I know what this list actually is.

I would be much more interested in a coaches draft of current college players.

An SEC coach got the 1st pick and an ACC coach got the 2nd pick...the fix is in for the south.
