Does this hurt the NVL trying to get back up & running or help them?

I don't see how it can help the NVL, unless they have some sort of deal. No mention of such a thing.
Will there be an NVL in 2018?
OTOH, nothing to stop Branagh & Walsh from playing on the USAV tour, if it materializes.

On the junior tour side the USAV essentially closed down and abandoned their customers the last half of 2017. Few, if any, tournaments held August thru December. The 2018 schedule is still not up under this ill concieved National Beach Tour. In the meantime the AVPFirst came in and set nearly 30 tournaments set in Texas alone. The AAU has also expanded their number of tournaments. USAV is just too late with this. Most of the club owners have already set up their events and interest from most regional offices is nil. They actually had a good thing going by centralizing the organization and marketing of these junior events, then threw it all away.

I question USAV's ability to running true "Open" events concerning the payouts. Of course they are probably going to sub out to existing tours. There is overhead concerns from doing this at a regional level.

Traded emails with the Florida's outdoor tournament director. Says the FL region's details will be out on the site next Monday. I'm interested in seeing how they battle or align with the dominant tours already established in FL.

This is primarily a push into the junior market. When the concept was conceived, the adult portion was designed to focus on the recreational players. A better comparison to Volley America than the NVL.

The beach market is kind of up and running already, so it will be interesting. The question is, is this another way for USAV to make money off juniors, or will they actually invest and look to make a quality tour? The adults are questionable as well. The trend in my region are adults indoor bowing out of USAV and playing tournaments at facilities/locations that run their own events with their own insurance (save on the cost of the membership, more prize money or a cheaper entry since they don't bring in paid officials typically).

In Florida with minimal Adult indoor events, the issue has been for ever, what is the value of a USAV membership fee for the adult player? $40 or whatever it is, is not something most adult players just want to give up with nothing in return.
