I'm going to absolutely call out recruiting and coaching as it pertains to this and upcoming years. Cupboards are thin on passers. Claire Hahn has to be the worst DS I have seen in a top college volleyball team for quite some time. Absolutely atrocious. Texas can get by with Shook's setting (albeit mediocre), but cannot get by with the DSs they currently have. Was talking to a mom whose daughter has been in the same club team as both Hahn and Rounsaville for 6+ years. I was lamenting that our DS play was..... atrocious...and why for heaven's sake won't JE pull them as they're shanking serve receives. She chuckled and said that JE loves DS'es from this local Austin club (also her daughter's club) and he's not going to change. Oh please, please let Olivia or Sydney or Jhenna be better than those two.

Kate Palladino and Amy Neal both came from the same club as well, although Kate never got significant (if any) playing time.
I know Blair Westerlund and Claire Hahn played at AJV, while I think Autumn Rounsaville played at Austin Performance.

The last time that Texas did not make it to the Final Four, they won the championship the next year. Let's hope that the trend continues! I have a lot to deconstruct about this year and next year, but honestly, needing a break from the anxiety that volleyball has caused me the past few days.

McCage from the same club too. Along with Kelsie Payne and scores of past and present D1 talent.

Seriously,"a mom" from the local club? Did you ask if JE prefers the Stone's or Beatles? An expert like that should know.

I think all of this pretty spot on. It seems like a lot of the girlsbthis year were too reserved to crank each other up, even after big plays. YBG could fill this roll playing full time. I often see setters provide that kind of team leadership, so maybe Shook can grow into with time. Out of everybody, I thought Shook looked the most listless out there in terms of communication/ leadership/ any sort of reinforcement. Deer in the headlights for the most part. I think passive players like that will be tough to get to go the other way emotionally. I feel like players defer to one of two emotions when they’re pushed: the walk in the park happy folks (Seliger-Swenson comes to mind) and the folks that get pissed/ mad / fire everybody up (Anae comes to mind here.) I think YBG and White can step up. I think YBG has done enough in her career to merit staying on the court as much as possible. I love her demeanor. These were the Texas floor generals. If your team is looking for an emotional leader in a freshman setter you're in dire straights. Now listen to the generals give a short heads up. www.texassports.com/news/2017/10/30/video-no-3-volleyballs-shook-making-seamless-transition-at-texas.aspx?path=wvballIf I had been Ashley and felt the need to say something, it might have been along the line of "Pass the f---ing ball!!" Still to many fans see Ashley as to slow. I ask why does she have more digs than the previous setters of this decade and in her freshman year and in fewer sets played? Why? How? Great year for Ashley. Getting all those very good stats with very bad passing.

In N Out is a good burger, but so are Carls Jr, Whataburger, and Burger King. Didn't know UT had it on campus. Do you have a Whataburger as well? Can't imagine they would allor a CA place to pop up under their nose.

Texas can get by with Shook's setting (albeit mediocre), but cannot get by with the DSs they currently have. Well, then, let me call YOU out. - Wisconsin is the team/school you are loyal to - You live in Austin, TX - You are a season ticket holder for Texas women's volleyball home matches - You give donations to the University - You attend these games in person (what a joy you must be for whoever sits next to you) - You have posted probably 20 times this season that Ashley Shook is an awful setter; the "mediocre" superlative you stated today is the most complimentary all season - You are here posting that Claire Hahn is the worst DS you have seen in long time; you've made similar comments about Autumn Rounsaville and Cat McCoy - You never post anything positive about Longhorn volleyball; your posting history is available for everyone to view - You never congratulate Texas when they win or advance or players win individual awards - You flipped out during the pre-game festivities against Minnesota and had to immediately text the Texas women's athletic director to voice your disgust and disapproval. You obsessed over it for a week after the match was over on the Texas-Minnesota thread and completely monopolized the thread and prevented posters from actually discussing the play on the court. So, why do you do it? Why do you care about Texas volleyball? It's obviously never going to live up to your lofty standards. You can't really expect us to believe that you enjoy yourself while watching Texas play volleyball in person. Post-matches, you come to Texas threads only to post about Texas' flaws; never about anything that Texas did well. How'd I do?

Not to pile on here... but I certainly noticed, and I’m sure other B1G fans noticed as well, how negative (and at times disparaging) some Wisconsin fans were to their own team this season. I’m not sure if this poster you’re referring to was part of the problem, but I definitely did not enjoy the about-face in attitude. I’m surprised by how many posters claim to follow or be a fan of “x school” and then spend so much time sh*tting on “x school’s” players.

If J. Elliott starts to recruit STELLAR back court kids, he would get his championships!

If J. Elliott starts to recruit STELLAR back court kids, he would get his championships! Why do you post on the Texas threads? Is it just to try and irritate Longhorn fans? Can the first several pages of the 2018 thread just be positive for us?
