I bet Nebraska's final scholarship goes to another transfer setter this summer. You got anyone in mind? I hope they go two deep in setters, someone who is quality depth. Enough for maybe Cook to consider a two setter system. We have our fair share of outside hitters coming to Nebraska now and into the future. I hear maybe Zuhn could possibly be a middle hitter in 2019. We have five OH/OPP’s for 2018. With no attrition, yes graduation, the number could increase to six in 2019. I know John Cook definitely prefers a one setter system. Remember, PSU in 2017 had Nebraska at match point with a two setter system. So close, yet so far in the national semi-finals. PSU, I believe, would have beaten Florida if they had gotten to the finals. I do not have anyone in mind. Cook said they've had a couple visit already. I don't know if one of those is Jasmine Schmidt, who's walking on this spring and hoping to earn a roster spot.

If anyone's curious, Schmidt and Williams' photos have been posted on the beach roster. In related news, Husker beach beat Benedictine Mesa yesterday 4-1. They lost to #6 LSU this morning in an 0-5 sweep. Playing #14 Cal Poly tonight. Started earlier today at 5 pm. Results are starting to come in. ( link) Huskers take on #1 USC and ASU tomorrow! GBR!

I’m sure we’ll find a good replacement. This situation is always going to happen to us. John Cook has a bunch of talented people standing in line to be his understudy. I’m disappointed we didn’t get Tyler for another year though. Yes; I was hoping Tyler would be around to help Nicklin up her game to the next level. *Maybe Kelly will hang as a Graduate Assistant to help Coach Cook with setter training.

You think another OH addition is a possibility then? Possibly. I think they'll use it on any player that will make the team better assuming that a player of that caliber is available and wants to join the team. If they don't find someone then Sami will be on scholarship again. I know that's kind of a "well, duh" answer, but that's the position they're in. Obviously, setter and OH are the two question mark positions, but they'd also be interested in a back court player with a good serve.

Is Foecke not playing sand this year? She is listed on the roster but she hasn't played yet.

#ProBigRedJordan Larson’s Eczacıbaşı Tigers are in first place of Turkey’s League of Sultans with a record of 20-1 and will play their final match of the regular season on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 5:00 p.m. TRT (8:00 a.m. CST) against Halkbank. A win on Sunday will give the Tigers a #1 seed in the playoffs where they will battle for their 18th Sultanar Ligi championship and a berth to the next CEV Champions League tournament. On Tuesday, Eczacıbaşı won the first leg of the quarterfinals of the CEV Cup against Krasnoyarsk, and Jordan and Tijana Bošković dominated the four-game match with 22 and 24 kills, respectively! Here’s a link to the full stream: www.laola1.tv/en-int/video/2018-02-20-yenisei-krasnoyarsk-eczacibasi-vitra-istanbul-lenKelsey Robinson is also in Turkey on a star-studded Vakifbank team, which will wrap up the regular domestic league season against Bursa on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 5:30 p.m. TRT (8:30 a.m. CST). Vakifbank ranks second with a record of 29-2 and will head to the playoffs to battle for their tenth league title and a return to next season’s CEV Champions League (the top three teams in Turkey receive bids). In this year’s edition of the CEV CL, Vakifbank has secured a spot to the playoffs with a 5-0 record in pool play with one match remaining against Galatasaray on Feb 27. at 8:30 p.m. TRT (11:30 a.m. CST). The match will be streamed for free via Germany’s Laola: www.laola1.tv/en-int/livestream/galatasaray-sk-istanbul-vakifbank-istanbul-lenGina Mancuso joined BKS Bielsko-Biała in Poland’s Orlen Liga in the middle of the season last month along with former Penn State middle blocker, Nia Grant. Last Friday, the G Train had at least 10 kills, a couple blocks, and an ace in a sweep over her former Polish team, MKS Dabrowa Górnicza! The team has eight matches of the regular league season remaining as it looks to advance to the Polish playoffs as one of the top-four teams. Back in September, Kadie Rolfzen replaced the legendary OH Saori Kimura for the Toray Arrows in Japan’s V.Premier League, and she currently ranks fourth in Japan with 355 points (behind Neriman Özsoy, Kenia Carcaces Opón, and Brankica Mihajlović). She leads all foreign players in serve-receive and digging, ranks sixth overall in aces, and places in the top ten for blocks. I‘m fond of the slogan for the Toray Arrows: “Demonstrate strength by becoming a bundle and push toward the goal.” Amber Rolfzen’s Béziers Angels are ranked #1 in France with four matches of the regular season remaining against Chamalières (Feb. 26), St-Raphaël (March 3), Evreux (March 17), and Nantes (March 24). Not only is Béziers four wins away from claiming the #1 seed to the playoffs for the Ligue A Féminine title, which grants an automatic berth to the CEV CL next season, but the Angels will play RC Cannes for the Coupe de France on March 10! Allez Les Angels! Thank you for this! I didn't know Gina had gone back to playing-I saw her in Papillion not that long ago. Great to hear how well the former Huskers are doing. Yes,: And great to hear about Kadie. She was so miscast at OP, instead of OH at her NT tryout. She is a better back-court player than a number of the other players who tried out for the NT at OH. I hope she finds a consistent 'killer attack' in her Pro experiences. I think the potential was always there.

They don’t magically appear. You want them to so you can, wrongly, accuse him of running off players. I would bet all these young ladies at the end of the fall season left because of better opportunities of starting/playing time elsewhere. I’m sure that meeting with John Cook where how they fit the next volleyball season isn’t cementing an increase for playing time or chances for starting. But anti-Cook fans are numerous. That’s OK, Nebraska will gladly hang onto him for as long as he wants to lead the program. Why do you immediately assume I'm anti-Cook? It seemed sarcastic. Plus the word “magically”. Sami Slaughter doesn’t have a guaranteed four year scholarship. It depends if they can get a legitimate 2nd setter, or another quality DS who can serve well. I suppose they can try to get a great OH/OPP but that position has six players vying for three spots. Only Slaughter isn’t guaranteed a four year scholarship, I believe. Also of the incoming freshmen, I don’t know if Megan Miller is guaranteed a four year scholarship. Densberger is a walk-on who I believe has to earn a scholarship with no promises made. That is why a third DS/Libero, or second setter or a 7th OH/OPP is vying for the last scholarship available. I know Maloney and JWO had four year scholarship deals, deservedly so. I don’t know what Miller(2018) and Knuckles(2019) have in regards to scholarship deals. They both could have four year deals. Is Szabo and Williams on four year deals? Only inside people know. I’m not one for sure.

Zhu Ting couldn’t get in any offensive rhythm in game 1, so Guidetti pulled her and started Kelsey, who had a monster third game, as the L1 for the rest of the match. Vakifbank will look to rebound against the seventh seed, Besiktas, in the quarterfinals of the playoffs. Eczacıbaşı finished the regular league season in first place with a record of 21-1 after a thrilling victory over Halkbank tonight! Motta started the bench, so Jordan and Boško subbed in sparingly whenever the Tigers needed offensive production. The Tigers will enter the Sultanlar Ligi playoffs as the #1 seed and face the #8 seed, Nilüfer Bld., in the quarterfinals. From all of Husker Nation, best wishes and luck to both Kelsey and Jordan’s teams! #PROBIGRED

That’s Kelly Sheffield. I can’t think of any scholarship players or starters who have left Nebraska in the past decade because their scholarship got pulled and given to someone else. Not trying to start anything wasn’t Larson’s scholarship taken away? That’s what I was told by a few people on here. Kira was on a two-year scholarship at Nebraska, so you were given false information. In January of 2015, Cook had a meeting individually with all of the players, and he was honest with the prospects of playing time for the eventual national championship season, which Kira appreciated, so she decided to transfer to Mizzou where she was able to start.

That’s Kelly Sheffield. I can’t think of any scholarship players or starters who have left Nebraska in the past decade because their scholarship got pulled and given to someone else. Kristen Kelsay's was given to Lauren Cook for the 2010 season, and Lauren Sieckmann's was given to Meghan Haggerty in 2012. You (and your expense) make these threads fun for me! Let’s talk about your misguided claims: Lauren Cook was on scholarship through UNL’s Dependent Scholarship Program, which is for the dependent children of UNL employees. Kelsay de-committed two months after she picked Nebraska over schools like Virginia and Notre Dame, once Andy Banachowski retired and National Freshman of the Year Lauren Cook transferred to Nebraska. There’s also nothing nefarious about Lauren Sieckmann’s transfer. She figured that the setter position, for which Nebraska recruited her, wasn't what she wanted to exclusively play in college. Sieckmann ended up transferring to Wayne State to play OPP/S and then to USC, because she realized that beach volleyball was her true passion.

plus we don't have room for her correct? We have room for one more scholarship,I believe. Nebraska had one spot available before Atherton transferred. Agree; That would be my guess. NE has added 2 players since - Jasmine Schmidt (probably not), and Kashauna Williams (probably (4?), but unsure). So with that alone; I think NE still has 1 available without involving existing players.
