Well there are only 2 OH from Last year. Losing either one will be a huge problem. Only 1 setter coming in that isn't on campus already and she is probably the better of the 2. No word where either are going or why. Could be another tough season for Va Tech. What's causing the departures? Really like Jill and rooting for her success!! Nobody is saying what the problem is. Kinda strange.

I've heard another rumor at a tournament this weekend - that Va Tech is losing one of their big frosh OHs and an incoming setter? Anyone know who they could be? And how does an incoming player leave after the NLI but before they actually arrive on campus? They can leave if the school releases them from the NLI. Where is the incoming setter going? I know the A5 18-1 setter had committed there at one point. Thought I saw a pic of her signing in prepvolleyball. Wonder if she is the one.

There is no WAY UNC wins the conference! They just lost pretty much all their firepower!
Hopefully the ship gets righted, and Duke and FSU battle for the top spot once again

They lost an OH, a MH, a libero, and their setting was horrific last year. I can say that bc UNCs was to! FSU is better this year as seen in the spring so they will trend up. But don’t count out UNC. It will be a young team and growing pains but their incoming class and transfers are terminal on the offensive end. With UNC getting the transfer setter from Nebraska, a middle/opp transfer that plays on her countries national team, and the incoming freshmen, and the Heels will work through early season struggles. Pitt and Louisville will be very strong.

I know that Louisville needs to replace Clark's production at middle, but other than that returns pretty much all other production. They also added Van Dyke from Illinois. I'd imagine they'll compete for the conference title again. Then in 2019 is when Dani's talent infusion starts to arrive with Tillman, Shields, and Stivrins.

Pitt returns everyone. They will be strong offensively but the reason they didn't get out of the second round and beat any ranked opponent was their defense. Their blocking is decent but their back row was not consistent at times. Louisville has to replace Clark, DeJong (both of whom played multiple positions) and Wiley who was a very underrated DS. Louisville has stellar defense but there were times last year it broke down. I expect that Louisville will be the next ACC power once Dani's players start coming in. Add in Pitt, Miami, FSU, and UNC and the top in the next few years will be a lot closer.

I wouldn't count out Notre Dame. They're well coached, have very strong recruiting appeal, especially in the Midwest, and would have improved even more in the last 2 years had it not been for some bad luck. I think one of the biggest differences in the last few years in the ACC is that the quality of the coaching keeps improving. Louisville, Pitt, Notre Dame, NC State, and Wake all seem to have improved in that regard.

Now that the spring season is winding down/concluded can anyone give updates on their teams they follow in the ACC?

I know Duke’s setting was not great last year, but it’ll be improved this year. Meyer, Schwantz and Amos are all conference type players, we also bring in an under armour libero and middle blocker, who will start. There are two very capable upper class options for OH2. If the setting improves, Duke is top 3 no doubt. The combo of experience w/ strong freshmen, will set the blue devils up nicely. For that reason, UNC cannot possibly finish top 5. They are bringing in strong freshmen, but what they lose in experience/firepower, will set them back this year

I don’t doubt Duke being approved. I agree you have a great recruiting class coming in, but the talent you return has some work to do as well. UNC has experienced transfers coming in and some experience on the roster returning. We aren’t losing fire power, we are gaining it. Harrison, cox, and bell are all thunderous and have aspects of them that are college ready. Both teams will have growing pains

Agree about Syracuse. They could be dangerous. I never thought setting was their main issue, but their defense. Trotter has been a solid setter for their program. Other than Sande, they didnt have anyone that was exceptional on first contact.
And UNC may hit a snag in their rebuild and reboot next year if Lauren Harrison ends up being out for injury, but the extent isn't known. The ACC is tightening up for sure the past few years. I wouldn't count GA Tech out as a good team with foreign transfers and some other incoming players.
