Washington
As good as Thompson was, I think I’d probably run a 6-2, for blocking purposes.
OH- Morrison and Benjamin MB- Gil (for her blocking) Sybeldon (for her offense) I could also be persuaded for Swarbrick S- Thompson and Hagglund OPP- Tomsevic and Vansant L- Miyashiro DS- Lee Serving Sub- Collymore

Illinois OH - Laura DeBruler OH - Colleen Ward MH - Mary Eggers MB - Johannah Bangert or Ali Bastianelli S - Jordyn Poulter Opp - Erin Borske (listed as an OH who hit from anywhere) Lib - Jennifer Beltran Michelle Bartsch could possibly be OH Bartsch was originally on my list until I remembered that she went from MB to RS to OH and wasn’t as good as DeBruler or Ward in passing & defense at that time. DeBruler was an Eggers playing OH. She would do anything to win. Ward was a smarter hitter & had the jump serve. Borske was the BEST hardest hitter in Illinois history. If I put her in as an OH, she would bump off Ward and put in a lesser player than Ward at Opp. Bangert is there until Bastianelli can pass her career stats up next year.

I suppose with a player like destinee Hooker in the roster, you don’t actually need a great setter 🤣 Engle was a great setter at the collegiate level. She also had a terrific left arm and decent block. Whom would you pick to set over Engle? Kocher or Collins? Moriarty. I also completely disagree that she was a "great setter" at the collegiate level, especially given the decade she played in. She was good, certainly not great. Now, that's different than saying she brought other skills to floor, and she did, but if we are talking just on second contact, meh....

Minnesota:
Opp: Busse (Harms and Cassie had the best single seasons there) Middles: Hagen, Nelson, Dixon, Gibbemeyer Setters: Osterling, Jackson, Bauer, Berg, SSS (all 4-year starters, with special shout-out to the Bowman/Taatjes combo) OHs: Gonzalez, Schaefer, DeDecker, Branagh, Martin, Santana, Wilhite (DeDecker and Branagh were the most consistent) Libero: Gentil
Intangibles/special mention: Tan, Tapps, Taatjes, Peniata, Ohlhausen, Passer, Granquist, KBow
I wouldn't want to narrow any of these down from here and I have high hopes for Hart, Samedy, Barnes, CC ...

I’ve followed Texas Volleyball enough over the decades to still pick Engle over the rest. I admit she wasn’t exceptional like Kehoe, Spicer, Thompson, or Holloway, but I maintain that Engle was a great setter for the Longhorns.

PSU 1st Team OH1 Megan Hodge OH2 Nichole Fawcett MH1 Haleigh Washington MH2 Christa Harmotto OPP Ariel Scott S Alisha Glass L Kaleena Walters 2nd team OH1 Simone Lee OH2 Deja McClendon MH1 Arielle Wilson MH2 Lauren Cacciamani OPP Blair Brown S Micha Hancock L D'Errico/Holehouse....but White may replace after 2 more years. btw some really really great players were left off.....but these would be my top 14 draft picks. If you had all four of Hodge, Fawcett, McClendon and A. Scott on a roster, would you really leave McClendon out of the lineup and start Scott at OPP? No offense to Scott (she was terrific), but if I was a Penn State fan, I’d put Fawcett at OPP, hide Hodge in serve-receive as the L1, and ensure McClendon was one of your starting pin hitters (L2).

You are hiding Hodge in serve receive to give Mclendon a go on the floor? .... our recent memories of Hodge make be Shankzilla, but by her junior year she was a very steady back row presence in college, frequently passing in a two person serve receive when PSU wasn't losing to ANYONE. Keep Mclendon off the floor, Fawcett should stay on the left, and it should actually be brown at OPP because she is the superior blocker.
