MLK Qualifier: Northern Lights, KC Power, NORCO, and HPSTL are the final four teams for tomorrows 4 team pool play final. 3 of the 4 had to go to a 3rd set to win in the challenge round with HPSTL beating Athena 16-14 in the 3rd. For the Husker fans, Schwarzenbach plays for KC Power and Zuhn plays for NORCO.

And 6 teams left in Chicago. Pool A is Uno, Rage and Team Indiana. Pool B is Circle City, Metro and Milwaukee Sting. Gold Pool 2 is brutal.

Rage has been a consistent power in this age group. Glad to see that reports of their decline this year were greatly exaggerated

MN Select is not going to be very good this year, relatively speaking. College commitments and great coaching aside, they just aren't as good as you might expect.
Now, they do have a fair amount of 17s, but even so.
(And I still think Zumach is a seriously underrated talent.)

That's actually the pool with two second place teams from today. Uno beat Sting and Rage beat Metro. I would still pick Sting and Circle city over the other contenders regardless of a one match result.

A few other results from the weekend.
Alliance 18 Mizuno beats Union 18-1 Asics in the 2018 AAU MLK Grandprix, Alliance dropped one set to Union 17-1. Alliance has Logan Eggleston, Garrett Joiner and Avri Davis
KC Power and Northern Lights won their first matches this morning in the gold championship at KC MLK qualifier over NORCO and HPSTL.
Top Select 18 Blake beats OPU 18 Rox Blue in the championship match at OT MLK Showcase, TS finishes 9-0 and only dropped two sets.
2018 Tour of Texas (Pre-Qualified) has SA Magic at 5-0, TAV 18 Black is 4-1 having lost to SA Magic 18 E; in the other pool TX Tornados 18 Mizuno are 5-0 with Excel 18 Nat'l Red right behind at 4-1. In 18's (San Antonio) AJV 18 Molten is one of 4 teams still at 7-0 along with Drive Nation, APAC and Houston Skyline.
At the Atlanta Super Regional, 4 A5 teams (18-1, 18-2, 16-1 and 17-1) are still playing for gold as the last 4 teams. 16-1 and 17-1 are both 8-0, 18-1 is 7-0 and 18-2 is 7-1. Not unexpected as 16 of the 22 teams are A5 or their satellites.
City of Oaks Challenge (Raleigh, NC) sees Triangle 17 Black beat Triangle 18 Black in the championship match, both teams came in undefeated.
