Can't listen - what he say about their qualifier loss? He was in Hawaii for most of the offseason and not sure how much Rosie trained but as a team, they didn’t train for this. They still pocketed some points for winning one match in the qualifier, and the only reason they played was to obtain more points. But their next event will be in Kish Island, before Ft. Lauderdale.

As Trevor is in the bottom - bottom - half of FIVB blocking, wouldn't matter if they trained or not, similar result. Guy must be delusional about his blocking ability on an international level. Hopefully you dug into him about this.

Sounds like the prototypical making excuses and saying you can't make excuses.

I love the podcast, but I didn't appreciate how they dismissed Trevor's placement at the Hague due to not training ("most teams hadn't trained", "it was in January") and the best was that April and Alix trained a lot because they were a new team. Yes that is true, but they also trained because they wanted to do well and they understand what it means to be a professional athlete. If an NFL/MLB/NBA player shows up not ready to compete, there are a ton of players ready to take their spot.

wang pu: Yeah, you're right, but then again, this is beach volleyball and January is a bit of a different animal. Sounds like it was hard to get Rosie going, so there goes your training, a bit...If they were pulling in $3.5m per year, I'm with you, but at the current level AND the way points work the way Trevor stated, I "kinna get it". Would Todd approach it this way? Doubtful, but anyway, we'll have to look back in December 2018 to see "what really happened" in the full year...

April and Alix are a new team but they’ve been training their butts off not long after they announced the partnership. Even silver medalists at The Hague Carol Solberg and Maria Antonelli trained. Let’s not forget Maria got married a few weeks ago and had to practice during her honeymoon too. So it’s not right to blame their low placement on “not training enough”. They chose to do it that way. If they weren’t ready, they shouldn’t have entered. They knew it would be in early January when they registered for the event. Flying all the way there to pick up 40 points apiece sounds pretty devastating.

Any chance to get Adam Roberts on the pod. He seems like a guy who has done a ton for the sport and also gets trash talked a lot. I'd love to know more about him mentoring guys, starting out with Dana, baby Nick and Phil etc.

Probably won't be back in Southern Cal till March, but noted. He's an excellent interview.
