Know for a fact that Miles & Bill are not going to sign the AVP contract! They want to be able to play in more than 7 tourneys domestically per year. AVP does not allow that....Players were fools...Should have stuck together...Now it is what it is! Yep... And then we'd have no tour and no money. Oh wait.... Stay tuned!!!!!!!!!!!!! If he shuttered the tour he would have proved what a lot of people already think....That he doesn’t care about the growth of this game....When he wouldn’t meet them half way & make any concessions, he proved that....Scared the players...The players signed....And well this has been discussed over and over...No need to rehash....

NVLs of the past & future p1440 events How many tournaments did the NVL have last year? P1440 has had exactly zero so far. Only way for p1440 to succeed is prize money Prize money that the top 🇺🇸 players will not be allowed to make....

If it wasn't for the AVP, there would be no more game in the US. It's a completely flawed argument. The NVL folded after 1 tournament last year. The 1440 tour is a complete unknown. They might not be playing in any major tournaments this summer domestically. Last year they played only 1. Again, they are losing out right now.

Of course the main reason there was only 1 other domestic event was because of the AVP’s exclusivity clause. It is arguable whether the AVP is better off this way, but it’s much harder to argue that fewer domestic events are better for the players or the sport in general.

Why should any businessman care about that? However if the question is, does Donald care, the answer almost certainly has to start and end with him running at a loss for the entire period of the AVP's existence. I enjoy your posts, but don't bring this BS in here. Forcing the players to sign can be criticized on reasonable grounds but not by saying Sun doesn't care about the sport. Let Kerri lose money for 5 years and then talk. If Donald had put the money he spent on the AVP in an index fund, he would have made millions in the last 5 years. Instead we all got some good domestic BVB. Im not the biggest AVP fan there is - thats either Beavis or Volleyballjim - but come on.

Is it too late for Miles and Bill to sign with AVP? Or do they want to continue and only compete internationally? Know for a fact that Miles & Bill are not going to sign the AVP contract! They want to be able to play in more than 7 tourneys domestically per year. AVP does not allow that....Players were fools...Should have stuck together...Now it is what it is! I think we should imagine that negotiation in a different context. When the UN sends food relief to Bangladesh after a disaster, do the starving people band together and demand filet mignon instead of rice and threaten to stop eating any food offered?

How many additional tournaments were there in 2017 that AVPers were not allowed to play in that offered prize money? 1? 2?

guest2: Good points, both (Bevis can win as best AVP fan, but I EXPECT my silver). I'm not knowledgeable as many here but really, what WERE Donald Sun's alternatives to resurrecting this AVP tour without exclusivity? People look at the prize money as the costs, I look at the elevator that takes food to the 2nd level and think "What did THAT expense at"...The FIVB, from what I read, is no slam dunk of a business model, but they HAVE the players with little competition (it appears) and now THEY find themselves in a player union problem (?). Player representation, control, etc. must find itself AFTER the semi-resurrection and that has not yet occurred. A great book "Management of the Absurd" talks about WHEN these revolts happen. When things are their worst? NO, when a horizon can be seen where things CAN be better...we're still years away, but its coming...

Do we cheer for the businessman, or the growth of Beach Volleyball. That is a very legitimate question in this situation.
